Eurobike Trans Manchester
Discussion
As someone also from central Scotland with similar plans I see the appeal but I’m not convinced it’s worth the effort.
If the goal is saving time then you can’t ignore the round trip to Manchester for drop off and the faff of getting from the airport to the depot at the other end which would all add up. If the drop off was on your doorstep or the destination much further away it swings back in favour of the transport option but in this scenario I’m not so sure.
On the other hand if the bike is a 125 pay the man and book that flight.

Would need to be priced very keenly (under £700 I guess..) and collect my bike from central Scotland for me to be interested.
Used a company with a similar set up before and it was OK.. They picked the bikes up a week before and when it was holiday time, we flew out and collected the bikes close to the Alps the next day having 1 night at the location to chill out..
It was OK... but if I get the Newcastle ferry on a Wednesday, I'm in the Swiss Alps for Friday lunchtime... it's not that bad for me.
I don't mind riding on motorways... prefer that to airports and planes tbh!

The ideal would be ride from Central Scotland, fly from Manchester, ride back to Ijmuiden from Italy and then ferry to Newcastle.
Wait, what? You plan to ride to the drop off then fly out from Manchester. I assumed you need to drop this off days/a week before? Won’t you arrive days before your bike does in this scenario?Won’t this end up costing you time rather than saving it?

I guess if he rides down on a Thursday and they can turn the bike around for their Friday transport... he could get a flight Thursday night and a couple of chill days in Florence waiting on the bike to arrive..... I guess it could be late Saturday at a push?Won t this end up costing you time rather than saving it?

That's the idea. A couple of days doing Florence on foot is no hardship! hiccy18 said:
That's fair. Interested in the cost of this, the other option being the Dusdelldorf to Villach train. We rode down through Germany this year and enjoyed it, but appreciate you've spent plenty of time there already and might want to spend that time elsewhere.
Dusseldorf is not a long ride from Ijmuiden and that is definitely an option as well. The beauty of that one is that you get going straight away. I didn't go to Dusseldorf this year on my trip to Germany: I did go on my stag do but that had a very different vibe! Gassing Station | Biker Banter | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
