What MTB lights, 2025
Discussion
Why not get exposure to fix your light?
I had loads of different lights from 2000-2010 then bought an exposure 6 pack 1800 lumen version. Then a diablo off the back of it.
It's been faultless all this time. Still had people complaining about me riding behind them last winter.
I've gone for a new sixpack off the exposure outlet. 3 rides in and I'm delighted. I've got a battery pack lined up for the diablo and that's me set for the foreseeable future.

Six-pack for £445. You can thank me in 10 years

Any other suggestions please, with a much lower budget...
Went out as it was dark and the £10 ebay light is ok but not great.
Anything decent but with a budget of £50? Appreciate this is way off the posters post.
Magicshine do some bright stuff for not too much money. Also search for Cree lights. Went out as it was dark and the £10 ebay light is ok but not great.

I ve had a run of poor luck with bike lights, and as such have tried a few. I ride 4 days a week so they get a hard life.
None really hit the budget requirement apart from the first.
EBay cheap Cree lights - beam pattern annoyed, but cheap and cheerful. Lasted couple of years before battery packs gave up.
Gloworm XS - good, but almost too many accessories. Ended up just stopping working after about 3m and returned. Good light when worked
Magicshine RN1500 - liked it but felt not enough as a main light for off road. Fell off one day and never did manage to find it.
Magicshine Moneteer 8000 - great light, but battery wasn t properly waterproof and let water in, which shorted it. Magicshine said not covered in warranty, so had to buy one from eBay reseller (who was amazing). Put me off it a bit tbh, but still one of my favourites. Separate pack and light unit got annoying but beam spread and throw was prob my favourite
Exposure Diablo - have 2, use as helmet lights. Run time less than I d like, both been back to Exposure for repair in the 2 year warranty period but fixed without quibble.
Exposure 6 pack - current light. Excellent run time, crappy mount. All opinion, but doesn t feel worth premium price and I don t like the beam spread but that s just a personal preference. Disappointed in it, but that s because for the price I expected excellence, and it s only good
Randomly, the light I like the most is a Ravemen 2400. Feels like it punches well above its rate, and I like the high/low beam switching. Light I ride with most.

My go to setup for years has been MagicShine 1500lm on the bars and Xposure Joystick on my lid, both are probably over 5 years old now and still going well but they do only get occasional use through the winter.
For a more expensive option, the Hope front light was excellent for output with a few guys I used to ride with using them, but it is expensive and I assume they are still in production

I bought a couple sets of these for my kids MTB's for general offroad night riding (nothing too technical), and have been very impressed by them.
