Get excited about Christmas 2025!
Discussion
It's October, the Secret Santa thread is live, so it's time.....
Usual caveat, for those who think it is WAY too early (and yes it probably is, but I don't care) then you probably shouldn't be clicking on the thread at all, there's no need to come and tell us sad sacks to get a life.
Usual plans in our household are starting to form, I think we've got Kew Gardens lights booked for December, and a trip to see Father Christmas in one of the garden centres.....I forget which but I know last year's was rubbish so it won't be there again.
I was lucky enough to bag a table at the darts on my usual date as well, so that's those three things locked in.
We haven't quite confirmed but I've got a feeling the 'big day' will again be leaning towards having friends/possibly wife's sister involved as that'll put young kids all together. Just need to navigate where/when we see the usual family as it'll be another year where we're not heading to them, as used to be tradition.
I don't quite have as much leave to use up, so it's not looking like a nice 3 week stretch off, but I think I might manage 2 weeks off, so as usual I'm starting to get a bit excited about my next break from work.
Oh, and the red wine advent calendar has been pre ordered again!

Not quite there yet, I'm not usually one to get that excited, but this year feels a bit different. We moved into our new place earlier this year, and as I'm writing this the new kitchen is being fitted, which means for the first time we'll have enough space to be able to properly host.
Also planning on getting a real tree for the first time in years to go in the dining room, will be firing up the log burner, and I expect we'll be visiting the local garden centres to stock up on lights and decorations.

Well that's a recipe for a bloody good one I'd say. Even though I start this thread way too early, I would be surprised if anyone was genuinely "excited yet", but perhaps it's creeping into our thoughts. Forgot to add that now I'm a Big Green Egg w
ker, I'm very keen to cook everything in there. Did my first roast of the season last weekend in it, signs are promising. Muzzer79 said:

That sounds good to me!

One thing we're not doing with the kitchen refurb is replacing the old Rangemaster cooker. We inherited it when we moved in, but it scrubbed up pretty well so decided to save money and hopefully get a few more years out of it as they're not particularly cheap. Trouble is, Mrs ZS is paranoid it's going to die, we've worked out it's coming up to 20 years old... so I have promised that worst case if something happens then we'll be roasting the turkey on the BBQ

I can't wait for xmas this year.
Xmas dinner with my parents who will spoil the grandkids, heading to airport for a nightflight xmas day nighttime and off to the emirates for a week for the first time in 15 years my work will be closed entirely throughout the xmas period with no staff in, out of office on, and everything can be dealt with at the start of Jan.

Got an email from my work confirming days closed (25,26,1,2)over christmas and more importantly that we are each getting a fresh 5kg turkey with chipolatas and stuffing delivered to us on the 24th again this year.
My work used to give us Xmas eve off.....first time they have scrapped it this year. Shame, but sounds like it's in line with most other places. We are technically working Friday 2nd Jan though, which seems so pointless. UTH said:
