I've decided after 25 years and 4 big rebuilds that I'm done with wooden boats.

It had to be a Fairey, so Ive bought a Spearfish. All GRP. Plan is to keep it 20 years.

Excellent.

You might already know that I run a brokerage for Fairey boats.

Coming on a truck to my local boatyard today, big weekend of checking and polishing and antifouling.

Hope to launch next week.

My yacht is based at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and there always seems to be a bunch of Fairey's moored here (I don't know the collective name for a number of Faireys smile )

Pretty things in that very distinctive 1960s British kind of way.

The collective noun is a Cottingley

OP - you know you will buy another wooden boat, why try to fool yourself.

All good mates of mine, the "Suffolk Fairey Mafia"

Retire in 4 years. Maybe. There was 19 Bruce Campbell Christinas built on a 23ft Fairey hull, and 2 Huntsman 28 speedboats with a flat deck, maybe one of those.

My Spearfish arriving in Cowes.

Imagine a cramped two berth caravan with a toilet cubicle in the corner; like that but with real wood trim and nothing wobbles when you lean on it because none of it has been made of cardboard.

Apologies for the side tracking of this thread - although it is related, I was at my boat at the weekend and whilst Huntsman is putting his back in the water (Congratulations, it looks lovely), the Suffolk Mafia are taking theirs's out...
