While out for a jaunt around Europe I had a small incident involving another car. I pulled out to overtake and rubbed another car in the process...

The insurance is sorting things out but I don't want them to touch my car, as they will likely write it off and I've just had the engine rebuilt and don't want them too.

Damage is a large but shallow dent to the two passenger doors and a bit of a scuff. The mirror was also smashed up but it only needed a cover and a light so this has been done.

I know the answer is go to a body shop and find out but I've not had chance yet to get a day off work so I am consulting the group.

Are we talking hundreds to get this sorted or thousands... What should I expect to be paying here before I go round asking for quotes.

I only want a basic repair and I'm not bothered about the plastics.

Cheers

I would say between £500 and a £1000 but no more really.

I'm pretty certain that's a four figure repair via your insurance company; possibly less via private work with pattern or second hand parts.

I agree.

If you came to me I'd be right in the middle of those two figures, its an easy blend into the two doors, and if you are happy with the old trim then happy days.

Solid black? Two secondhand doors and a couple of hours work if you can't do it yourself and can find a mechanic who wants to do it.

I've looked into doors, it's not as simple as it appears.

It's a volvo, all the computerised components need to be programmed in with VIDA. I wouldn't even be able to open the window without doing that never mind central locking and whatever else.

I'm also struggling to find 2 doors in decent condition in the right colour and I'm sick of looking at it.
