Evening all,
Having discussed this in the pub today, I seem to be the only one that s been informed. It has to be done by all directors before 18th November. It s not a scam. Anyone else heard about this.

I don't have a mortgage, loans or credit agreements, and CH use your credit record to establish your identity. Consequently, I can't be eletronically identified and I have to go to the f

I have told CH to f

I'd be surprised if anyone who runs a company doesn't know about it - they've been emailing me about it for months, not that I've done anything about it.
I'm more pissed off about making tax digital and having to fork out for bloody software rather than just sending my accountant an Excel spreadsheet and using PAYE Basic Tools once a year.

It was on here, but buried in the MTD thread: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Although it also may have been ignored due to the posting date!

I've informed all of my clients about it, the response has been 'patchy' so far, but it has to be done I'm afraid.
After 18th November you'll have to enter the ID code for all directors and PSCs as part of the Confirmation Statement filing process. If you have a company with PSCs who aren't directors, you have a 14 day window within the month of their birthday to enter the ID code, again starting 18th November.
Getting a bit 'big brother' IMO. I've gone through the process to obtain the code for myself, it's pretty straight forward using the Gov.uk One Login app. It says you can verify your ID without using the app, but when I tried using this method, it failed to match my driving licence details. Using the app, it magically matched those same driving licence details... Hmm.

I used my driving licence and my passport, but it failed and I was told, by a human being, that they check against your credit record and, apparently, I don't have one. After 18th November you'll have to enter the ID code for all directors and PSCs as part of the Confirmation Statement filing process. Was aware of this but not the credit record as a point of reference so in the same boat - wonder what intellectual colossus came up with this genius red tape

You won't be able to file, and you'll face being struck off.
I'm minded to stress test it, given I'm effectively retired and my ltd companies effectively just hold cash.
I've had a go online with an app and browser - and failed.I'm minded to stress test it, given I'm effectively retired and my ltd companies effectively just hold cash.
My company is now dormant - but I did buy an EV through it 5 years ago.... not sure what happens to that if the company is struck off.
As an accountant, I'm struggling with this. The whole process is a mess. The Gov.one app does not meet the digital framework standards:
https://www.computerweekly.com/news/366623835/Govu...
The success rate for people verifying themselves using the above isn't great so far.
We can verify clients ourselves, but that is an onerous process requiring training.
We can direct clients to a third party service provider on our behalf. I'm working through providers at the moment, but none so far meet the requirements we need.
If I was doing this myself, I would verify using the Gov.one, get the director code and then delete the data held and the app.
How (as a professional practice) are we meant to direct a client to a process that does not meet digital Government standards?

I've verified via my accountant so no need to submit to CH.
I was aware of the requirement but had received zero official communication about it. Not great given this is only 1.5 months away.
I’m hoping to verify via my accountant too. So does that mean the info then stays in house, or do they, the accountants, then forward on to CH? I was aware of the requirement but had received zero official communication about it. Not great given this is only 1.5 months away.
It is an utter s
tshow.
I have some Powers of Attorney for my parents that are now in the one.gov system under a personal email address.
But I can't seem to have a second account under my work email address for CH. So I have to go through the ballache of switching email addresses back and forth.
And they think they can deliver a digital ID system??

This. They can't comprehend that you might want your personal government account linked to a personal email address, and your business account to a different business email address.

As a result to identify myself as being involved with the business I have to be using the same email address as for the business one.gov account.

Hmm, I was unaware of the app losing its certification. Wonderful.https://www.computerweekly.com/news/366623835/Govu...

There's also upcoming change at Companies House to deal with whereby the login for web filing will have to be via the One.Gov login. This is from 13th October.
The constant creep of regulation and unnecessary red tape is becoming a real problem. I plan to retire in eight years, and honestly, if I was in a financial position to do so, I'd sell my practice and retire tomorrow.
