Years ago our home treadmill stopped working fairly dramatically.
When we went to get a replacement we were told we needed an expensive "semi commercial" machine to cope with the millage we were doing but that the warranty wouldn't be valid as we keep it in an outbuilding.
Out of the blue a reconditioned semi commercial machine came up so we bought that.
5 years later this has literally worn out. There is a hole in the belt, a noticeable groove in the deck and graunches from the motor.
So we need a new one. We run less than we did but it still needs to be able to cope with 50-100km, 5-10 hours per week. Up to 2:30 in one run.
Do we still need semi commercial, or will a decent home quality survive ok?
Any recommendations?
Thanks

JTX offer a semi-commercial option:

We have one - was recommended by gym owning friend - and it’s been flawless after over a year of daily use (typically 30-60mins, but up to 2hrs). UK made and great customer service according to the reviews (haven’t needed it). Only downside is that (apparently) the money is spent on the motor, frame, belt and deck and NOT the display, which is fine but very basic (vs a modern touch screen).

Broadly you want an AC motor, as wide and long a belt as you can, a decent top speed, decent incline and if you can get it decline as well, minimal tablet/electronic fripperies.

FWIW I have a DKN EnduRun (Sweatband's own brand) that cost me £1300 nearly 4 years ago and has done about 3000 miles with 0 issues. It is, however, enormous and loud.

Watching with interest as we’re in the market for a decent treadmill too. Run about 40-50 miles per week and was trying to decide between the JTX sprint 9 pro and the Bowflex T9. I won’t be doing all my mileage on the machine, but as we head towards winter it will get fair use - and my wife is also going to start running, which will be indoors for the majority.

Not bothered about streaming anything to it or signing up for a monthly subscription, so machines like the Nordic track lose a lot of their appeal.

I have a Bowflex BFX56.
When it works, its great.
But its not been that reliable, and its not been that heavily used either.
Ita broken a couple of times, and organising an engineer and replacement parts has been annoying and slow.

I believe AC are indeed superior, as you say, although also important is a motor that is sufficiently powerful. Consequently, when we got out JTX I was mindful that it came with a 4HP DC motor (many are 2.5HP or less) which, whilst not as good as an equivalent AC motor was still sufficiently powerful to be able to easily able to cope with the load (unlike smaller motors, which then tend to cause problems).

We love our JTX Sprint Pro 9 but be aware that it is pretty big (long), very heavy and doesn't fold (unlike the Sprint 8). The upside of this is that it's great to run on, as the deck is nice and wide/long and everything is very sturdy; feels like 'gym quality'. As an aside, the built in bluetooth speakers aren't too bad either - definitely not HiFi but loud enough to be able to hear your ipad whilst running.

If you are near Bath where I'm based you are welcome to come and have a look at ours.

Thanks for all the replies and advice. Space isn't a problem and we never fold it.

In Norwich so pretty far from Bath!
