I have no idea when it comes to stuff like this.

I've got this old pine set of drawers (pic below). It has no feet. My wife wants me to buy some bun feet and on eBay the seller I want to use has a selection of fittings (fittings available also below).

I have no idea really what fitting I need to use. As far as I can tell there is no screw hole there presently.

Any thoughts or tips before I inevitably buy the wrong thing ? I was minded to just drill a hole smaller than the fitting on the feet and just screw it in but if I've missed something or it needs to be done in a different way then all advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Assuming the base corners of the chest are solid wood then you can fit almost anything that the tools you have can work for.

The simplest solution would probably be a foot with a wood dowel so all you need to is drill a hole for the dowel and put some glue in the hole and around the surface of the foot.

Drilling and screwing in metal threaded inserts where the feet is just screwed into those is possibly even easier.

So long as the base is solid where you want your feet then the world is your lobster.

The threaded inserts bottom left and middle would be OK, assuming there is a stout bit of wood to insert them in.

The plates bottom right will withstand more leverage from a longer leg, but shouldn't be needed for a short foot.
Good option if there's only thin ply or something to screw to, using 4 small screws.
The plates are often angled?

Simply epoxying the male thread into a hole in the wood is quite likely to work OK,
You could wax the thread in the hope of being able to undo the foot, but don't blame me etc.

There should be no load on the thread n normal use, it's just when moving the furniture, especially while turning it over etc.

There looks to be an 8 to10mm piece of timber running front to back of the chest where it's sitting on the floor at the moment. If that's the case, the simplest solution would be to get the ones with just the thread on top. Drill a hole and then secure with a nut and washer.
If you have solid timber under there, then you want an insert or screw-on fixing. If you have access and room on whatever else might be under there, then a nut and bolt does the job. I don't mind the T-nuts but they normally need hammering in unless the timber is soft and you can use a ratchet on a bolt to pull them in tight.

I’d just balance the drawers on the feet, leave them for a week, then when wifey decides she’d like a different style it won’t be a problem to swap them! Glued 10mm dowels would be the strongest and easiest as DA says but you’ll probably have to buy a bag of a million unless you have some already.

Cheers all. You've given me the confidence that I can do this without making a complete hash of it.

I've purchased some feet from Amazon just now which have a screw attachment on them which hopefully will be solid enough. If they aren't up to the job at least I can return them which I couldn't well do to a small independent company without feeling guilty about it.

How they make any money posting these things to me with the fittings and I receive them tomorrow for 12 quid I'll never quite understand.
