Hi

I recently got myself an 848cc 1968 mini van in pretty original condition. My immediate problem is that flashers have stopped working. All the bulbs and connections are good. I think I'm right that no power is getting to the flasher relay (my multimeter skills are not great though). I should clarify that nothing happens at all when I turn them on. No light up at all.

Can anyone suggest a diagnostic approach for this?

thanks

Often with old cars it is the switch or stalk at fault, moving parts do wear out.

When I came to check mine over in the spring after it's winter hibernation half the lights weren't working or working correctly.
1st stop was the fuses, then the fuse box connections, then all the bullet connectors behind the grille in the engine bay, after all that I still had a fault that turned out to be the headlight rocker switch.
You have to be methodical but in your case,is the flasher unit clicking,if not check the live to it has power,if it has, bridge the 2 wires and the indicators should come on which would show the flasher unit is faulty

Thanks chaps. I believe that the flasher relay isn't powering up, so I'll take a look at the switch end next. I'm much happier with mechanicals!

I used to have to replace flasher relays on a regular basis with my 80s Mayfair.
