Have cancelled my SKY subscription as the monthly amount was getting crazy and the negotiations this time round were miniscule.

We watch most stuff these days on NFlix/Prime etc, but the bug bear is Sports....am wondering about using 'Now', but it's unclear from a quick glance whether sports are just streamed live or whether there's the ability to just watch an entire game/grand prix /whatever 'not live', or is it all boxed in so that there's fixed viewing times?

TIA

Its stream live or delayed highlights normally on NowTV.

You can pause a live stream for a period but you cannot just "watch from the beginning" if you come in half way.

NowTV is owned by sky so its a deliberate lesser offering to tempt you back into Sky.

Yeah as above, it's annoying only being able to watch live, but as they want you to be a fully signed up Sky member, you can see why they offer this as a compromise.

I only use it for Sports, and you'll need to go for the 'Boost' option if you want to stream to different devices simultaneously, which is an extra £6/month.

I do the above and split the total cost 50/50 with my brother so he can watch in his house, and even paying 50% I just about feel like I'm getting value for the amount of things I actually watch. Exclusively F1 and Football.

I do and the offers keep me going.

i.e. I'm currently on at £22 per month for Sky Sports package - Wait until it reverts to the default pricing at the end of the term, go through the cancel option a few times, and a lower offer pops up.

It's one of the only things I probably get my money's worth from...

thx folks, that's al helpful - guess i'd just have to work around watching more stuff live...

sorry additional Q for the 'footie fans' - presumably TNT is a standalone, can that be accessed via Now?

If you actually cancel (during a slow week for sports, so you don't miss anything) they will send you an even lower offer via email a few days later, usually for 2-6 months' worth of reduction.

Is Now TV HD? I thought it was mention in the F1 forum that it was SD only but I might be wrong.

You can rewind up to 2 hrs which is usually sufficient to go back to the start of live sport (possibly device dependant, certainly the case on my firesticks).

I recently swapped from Sky Q (became very expensive with Sky Sports and TNT) to EE TV.

Sports delivery on EE is via Now TV (a subsidiary of Sky) for both SKy Sports and TNT.

I am paying £82/month for 'the full works' but discounted to £25 for the first three months on a 24 month contract.

Only problem I had was with the Now app to watch on digital devices. EE are supposed to set it up on your behalf with Now by passing them your email address as your account login, but that had not happened. EE blamed it on Now, who's online chatbot was useless so after much faffing over a week I went down the 'make a complaint' route with Now, which got me some attention from a human being, albeit a foreign one with limited English. After exchange of six or seven emails they eventually sorted it, set up my account and sent me a standard password reset link, I was able to access it after doing a password change. All is now fine.

Am I happy? Yes, mostly. There is no lag as such but the EE planner is a little more clunky than the Sky one, I can live with that because of the cost saving.

A friend of mine dips in and out of Now TV month by month because there is no commitment. After he cancels they regularly send him discount offers to get him back on board, which he goes with depending on what is coming up. I can't be bothered with the faff in all honesty, I like to be 'always on', but it is a cost-effective legal way of watching subscription sports packages if you can be bothered with managing it.

Yes, I know 'dodgy Firestick' is the cheaper answer and have been offered many but I prefer the legit version.

NowTV used to be ok when you could buy a day or week sport pass if only interested in the occasional event or big match, often on discount via gift cards being sold off before they expired. Now it's like BT/TNT Sport, where it's minimum of a month pass.

They also charge extra for proper HD and simultaneous use on more devices, via their 'boost' so need to add that to the monthly fee.

Used to go to the pub instead to watch the big football clashes instead of paying the monthlies, but with the price of a pint now £5+ it's cheaper to stay in one weekend and the savings will pay for a month or two sports passes.

I had Sports via NowTV up the July this year for about 3 years. Started on a £18 per month for a year, then slowly kept increasing until this time around when my offer expired it was £29 per month with no offers whatsoever, plus whatever the Boost was, think they offered me that for £2 a month.

Anyway, binned it off this time around and joined the dubious source brigade ;-)
