M4 2015 F83 Battery Fault

Hi all

I have a 2015 M4 F83 91K miles and have owned the car for just over a year. As far as I know it's the original battery.

The car has been left standing for about 6-weeks at a workshop due to extensive engine rebuild. I got the car back from the garage last week with the "Replace Battery" fault on the dash. The garage said the fault would probably clear once I had driven a few miles to recharge the battery, but a week later the fault is still there. The car starts fine with no other issues and I've checked the standing voltage as 13.2v and whilst running it's 14.6v. I'm not too keen to just go and buy a new battery at this point due to the cost.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do about this? I'm aware I can reset to a new battery with Bimmercode (or is it Bimmerlink) but not sure if that's the right approach.

Any advice would be most welcome.

There are companies that can refurbish the battery, i hae never done it myself because luckily for me the previous owner replaced the battery just before i bought it but ive read about it on the FB owners groups

The garage may of disconnected your battery during your car’s visits to them. I think the car now may need ‘telling’ that a battery has been reconnected. I never knew this was a thing until I had a similar fault with mine when BMW fitted a new battery but forgot to ‘tell’ the car so.
