Anyone going?

I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Saturday so my best mate and I are taking our partners for 5 days in New York and leaving them to go sightseeing while we are at the golf.

Ironically, this will be the first time in many years I won’t be able to watch much of the action on the other days, as I think my wife will go mental if suggest we’re spending most of Friday and Sunday in a Sport’s bar watching golf!

If anyone has any recommendations for travel from NYC to Bethpage or for Sport’s bars near Central Park South then that would be great!

Was offered a freebie through work which I declined, and then free tickets and accomodation through a friend who's brother in law has a place in the Hamptons, so would have been flights/spending only, and again had to decline.

Will be great, and would love to go, as turned down a freebie to Rome last time as well, but would prefer to do with mates, so may consider Adare Manor if I can get tickets.

A friend went to Rome and said the atmosphere at the course was fantastic, but other than that I down think he was blown away by the whole trip as too many people, etc, etc.

We did Celtic Manor in 2010 which was interrupted/slightly spoilt by the weather etc, but still a great atmosphere - it will clearly be very busy and we won’t see as much golf as on TV, but I felt it was worth doing once, particularly when we can have a few days in New York too.

I love the Ryder Cup but I am dreading the possibility of unsportsmanlike behaviour this year - a repeat of Brookline. I will be reaching for the mute button a great deal.

yes - It's likely to be highly annoying to watch - The "mashed potato" nonsense is bad enough, but I fear we may some some quite ugly scenes during the week.

(but to be fair at the opening ceremony last night (which was absolutely dire), the biggest boos were reserved for the New York state official lady)

Let's hope it's not actually too bad...

Looking forward to the next 3 days!

Can Europe bring it home? Would be some achievement.

For me there is too much hype and hoopla about the Ryder Cup - However, it should be a fascinating three days.
Evenly matched teams, but I think Europe need to be a few points ahead on Saturday night to prevail in the singles which will be very noisy.

Can't wait! Always a great weekend. Went to Paris and probably one of the best weekends I've ever had!

Think we're in with a chance, prefer our team to theirs but crowd will be hostile. COE!

3-1 to Europe after Foursomes. Thats my prediction anyway, although I'm guessing not being down would be a great position.

Hmmm I can't see us winning this morning. Have it as a 2.5 -1.5 win to the US:

Half
Loss

If Rahm/Hatton don't beat Dechambeau/Thomas we will not win the Ryder Cup. That is a surprising US partnership to me and they could be playing from some interesting parts of the course if they are not on their game.

Arrived in New York yesterday and had a great chat about the golf with a very friendly immigration officer at Newark!

I’m expecting the fourballs this morning to finish 2-2, but think we do have a chance of winning it 2.5 - 1.5.

Am very much looking forward to being at the course on Saturday for day 2 - I’ve been spending all week practising my ‘get in the hole’ and ‘mashed potato’ shouts for when the US are teeing off on the par 5’s biggrin

Yep, they'll be baiting Rory at every opportunity.

Do they sell alcohol at the course? Seems like it could get pretty rowdy/punchy listening to the crowd.

Either Rahm and Hatton are cacking it or their just so focussed. Look a bag of nerves to me standing there.

Has Trump brought his Republican groupies with him?

Love the Ryder Cup, but I’m glad that Bryson has finally hit his tee shot on 1. I’m sick of hearing about how he’s the one who can drive the green. Then he gets nowhere near.
I think the commentators forget the Euros have Rory and Rasmus who can both hit it just as far.

You can see Bryson thrives off the crowd. He feeds off them. Good start for USA.
