New build stairs, 90* single turn across 5 steps. 1.1m(ISH) wide.
If I buy a 4m wide striped carpet which repeats every 60cm, will a carpet fitter be able to match the stripes?

Even if they could, I wouldn't. When you come to shuffle the carpet to move the worn treads on to the face of the risers the pattern match will be nigh on impossible.

Or maybe you're not from Yorkshire...

Striped carpet on stairs is an optical illusion accident waiting to happen as it can hide the steps as you go down

Damn, I wish you'd have told me that 12 years ago.

Indeed we had similar runner in a previous house, and no issues with stair edges / falling / etc.

The issue now is this is new-build and I think we need full width carpet....but we have decided to wait and leave bare wood stairs when we move in so we can look for a carpet in our own time, even see if a runner and painted stairs will work depending on what the stairs are made of / any damage to them.
