First time around 1999, 2 at the front trying to hurdle a 5 bar gate.
Second time on Saturday night after a long in depth conversation with Jim Beam.
No idea how I fell backwards into the plant pots, I'm pretty sure though that it was one of the solid wooden pot stands that did the damage.
Snapped clean bottom floating rib.
bked off my wife, then my boss when I rang her, then the writer/director of the play I'm in as it's dress rehearsal day today.
Only the dog still speaking to me.
Can't get in the car, can't get on my bike, can't go fishing...... 'Kin Ell.

Jimbo.

‘orrible, I agree! Hope it’s a swift recovery. Bust mine a few years back when I was doored on the bike. Can’t decide what was worse; the the coughing brought on by the inevitable chest infection, the doc squeezing my ribcage when things didn’t seem to be progressing, or returning to work and instantly clattering my ribs against the edge of the desk. Fun, fun, fun!

I think I've just broken/cracked/bruised mine again, I fell bodily, ribcage first into the corner of an oak table at the weekend. It's very helpful at the moment that I have a tickly cough as well rolleyes. So painful to stand up out of a chair, get out of a car, sleep, even have a sodding poo and generally just breathe!

I did something to one of my ribs when I crashed on my cycle. Rather than put my arm out, I held on to the bars landing on my side with the pointy bit of my elbow digging in to my ribs.
Just about managed the remaining 9 miles home.
And then the breathing on recovery.
The 6 or 7 shallow breaths and then preparing for a deep one was agonising.

As it's the back this time, breathing is fine.
Majority of the pain is mashed muscle and nerve, it's very similar to sciatica when I've slipped discs.
Not 48 hours yet and I'm fed up.

I hope you feel better and recovered to do what you want to do.

I lost several days to a hang over in June or July. No breaks though. It was over a week before I felt normal again.

Ribs are a bd.

Last time I did mine I was showing off to my daughter when skiing and managed to land with my fist between hard snow and my chest.

You can guarantee that you'll get a cold, start sneezing or coughing or some tt will make you laugh.

Reporting in, nearly a week on and I'm still in almost the same amount of pain. Hurts to breathe, sleeping is a nightmare, sitting in a chair hurts like crazy, but perching and leaning forward is ok. Getting out the car I look like an old man that has just st himself.

A couple of glasses if Jim will probably dull the pain.

7 day update (it will be 7 days in 13 hours)
Feeling of a distant ache, 1mm of movement from lots of swearing... So I don't scream.
Floating ribs are very tender, above them and round the back feels like a horse kicked me.
Something at the back keeps moving if I cough, sneeze, use the loo.
No issues with deep breathing.
Really bored with it now.

I could feel my ribs moving against each other.....

I gave 2 on my left side a good crack 3 years ago....deflated lung as well. Lung was easy but ribs....fk it hurt. Then a year later 2 more around my back nearer to my spine, 2 more fell backwards onto a metal bar and then 2 at the front, same side a month later. I never never ever want a broken rib again. it hurts.

You know what, genuinely a bottle of wine helps with the pain massively. Shame that it was our last weekend of having it at home for a while (being good, having too much etc, but that's another thread!).

I'm 99% sure at least one rib is broken, looked at some medical advice today and it showed a doctor examining around the ribcage and they said if the pain is very sharp and localised as well as being a dull ache, it's likely broken. If it's an overall dull ache it's likely bruised. I was feeling along my own ribs in the injured region and was fine, bit uncomfortable, pressing along each rib then fk fk bd!!

Got Miss Badger to look at my back and side region and she said it looks swollen in comparison to the left side. I don't suppose there's any point going to the doctors, I'm taking paracetamol and ibuprofen, my breathing is ok apart from deeper breaths hurting, no fluid etc.
