It's the missus birthday coming up. She plays Violin and Piano in a band and is constantly rehearsing atm which can overlap with our youngsters bedtime. So it would be useful to have something that allows her to continue playing when they're in bed.

Can anyone recomend some good headphones that can link to her instruments (she's got wireless connector for her violin) and perhaps double up for use when playing at gigs?

I don't play an instrument so would have no idea what's out there or useful.

if the violin and piano are real acoustic instruments headphones are not going to help. however, if they are not you might want to look at something that you can use with your PC. Im a guitarist and I do all my practice through "GarageBand" on my iMac using an instrument interface (sound card) and headphones so as not to annoy the neighbours. if you have a Mac it probably has a basic version of GarageBand already on it.

for PC windows there are other inexpensive options.

I can also use a MIDI keyboard (USB connection) for other instrument effects.

maybe her band mates will be able to help too?

As said above, if it's a proper acoustic violin then it's still going to be plenty loud regardless.

What plugs does the wireless connector on her violin use?

As for the headphones themselves, I've used Shure SE215 IEMs for years in both studio and live settings, no complaints whatsoever. Comfortable to wear for hours on end. Recently got a Rockboard HA1 IEM amp, that works absolutely fine. It is battery only but a pair of AAAs lasts about 10-12hrs.

For violin the best plugs are ear plugs.
