Is it possible to remove the three point seat belt and just have harnesses? (I know that you would need to put a jumper in to fool the seatbelt detector circuit)

I have a car that only has harnesses and is road legal but it came that way from the factory, I wonder what the situation is with a GT3

I think it may depend on the type of buckle release. I think you're supposed to have a red push button to be legal.

Hmm that’s interesting.

Pretty much every rally car is road legal, MOT’d and doesn’t have inertia reel seat bents.

My mk2 escort has bog standard 5 point harnesses and they’ve never been an issue - and I haven’t ever thought about it scratchchin

But similar to the back seat dilemma, Wouldn't the insurance company rub their hands together if claiming after an accident? Especially if you got injured.

I had the seatbelts removed from my R26 and the MoT guy said that rules stated I had to have a 5 point harness, any less wouldn't pass. This was a couple of years ago.

my Scuderia only had 4-point harnesses, so must be legal if that is allowed by TÜV for a factory car in Germany

Edit: and as far as I am aware Ferrari did not give the option of having both, it was either 3-point belt or harnesses

+1 that this is more an insurance than an MOT issue.

Most Insurance policies require you to state any modifications.

While the MOT checks whether what’s on the vehicle works ( not whether it’s OEM spec or not). Most Caterhams have valid MOTs and a significant number have harnesses (unsure whether they all have 5 or 6 point harnesses).

There's a significant difference between "Construction & Use" which is what manufacturers have to achieve for Type Approval compared with the simpler MOT requirements.

Yes, a modification for insurance.

Bear in mind that seat belts and air bags are designed as an integrated system. Fiddle with one part of that system and it changes the balance of the whole thing.
