Having had some very busy holidays where we ve tried to see as much as possible in different locations, I m looking for a week somewhere where we can just relax for 7 days, ideally on an all inclusive basis - not that we are going to be drinking non-stop from morning until night, but just so that you know you can order what you like and not baulk at the price of $10 for a beer at lunchtime etc.

The Maldives is the obvious destination, as we ve not been there for 20 years - I quite fancy the Baglioni Resort on Dhaali Atol - however flight costs are quite expensive, particularly for business class, so we are looking at other options too.

Greece is a country we’ve not been to, so this could be an option?

This is for next year and we are flexible on time of year, as we will fit our other holiday plans (Scottish Islands) around it.

Any recommendations? Thanks.

Check out the facilities and reviews for Anda Barut Collection in Didim, Turkey. We are going there for the second time this year in a couple of weeks. Good quality all inclusive.

We did a week here at the end of July in Rhodes and it was fantastic:

We usually do Turkey at the end of August but the missus wanted to try somewhere different which I was a bit against as I like to stick with what I know for a fly and flop holiday but I am glad we went.

Off to Cancun at the end of November and the hotel is going to have a lot to live up to based off of this experience biggrin

Did this a few years ago now with Mrs Loto, was called 'San Blas' then:

Excellent food and truly all inclusive. Like anywhere in Tenerife not much to do or see outside the hotel but great if you just want to have a lazy holiday.

Best all inclusive experience we've had was in either of the Olympic Lagoon properties in Cyprus. The Ayia Napa one is a bit bigger and more spread out, the one in Paphos makes it really easy to walk down to the harbour for a few beverages. Staff couldn't do enough for us in either place, premium drinks are included, overall an excellent experience.

They have a couple of restaurants onsite where the head chef has a Michelin star and the food is excellent, and normally included in All Inclusive Plus if you book with Jet 2. Both also had resort check in for the flight home, which is massively useful given the usual flight times back to the UK. Just drop your suitcase off in the lobby in the morning, then enjoy All Inclusive until your flight home in the evening.

Personally I think AI in Greece is wrong and it is destroying some areas.

Spend around six weeks in Greece each year and always choose a room/appt and eat out all the time. A litre of wine and some lunch is €40 ish. A beer is €3-5.

How does Amada differentiate between Gold, Diamond and Elite customers?

Any idea on budget you want to try and work within?

Appreciate you’ve mentioned the Maldives and business class etc.

But there’s all inclusive and all inclusive…

For example, if you’re off to Greece and just having a few pints of mythos a day that’s one thing.

If you’re looking for good wine, champagne and cocktails on the all inclusive, that’s another group of resorts all together.

Whats the price difference between AI and not? last time I looked its usually quite a lot.

If it was me, Id do not AI at one of these resorts, but just charge everything you have to the room and pay at the end. Probably save yourself a few £££.

For Greece - Ikos is the ultimate but phenomenally expensive.

No wrist bands.

There is an app that you can book things on according to your tier.

No wrist bands was a welcome change as well biggrin

The hotel's website suggest different levels of branded drinks at all bars - how do they police that?

It's a common complaint at Ikos resorts that they don't enforce keeping plebs away from the posh people.

We've done a few of the Barut Collection resorts in Turkey. If you're in a suite you get different privileges, and higher again if you're in a villa, but it's not obvious to anyone.

What I hate when booking these things through a tour operator is it's not clear what you're going to get (or not get). I looked at the Amada and the level you're (hopefully) getting isn't specified. It's a bit too vague when you could be spending £10K for a week.

Most bars it was all the same level but there is a lobby bar and bar below that you had to put your room number in to an iPad and then they would let you order what you want according to your level. My tier was wasted on me as all I wanted was beer or a VAT most of the time.

I did think that people could just walk in and go to the pool bar and get a beer without even being a guest but I didn't have to wear one of those stty wrist bands, so didn't really care!

We had a sea view room which I think put us into one of the better tiers and we had 3 meals in the non-buffet restaurants in the 7 days we were there.

What the hell are you lot talking about wristbands and levels and apps?

OP you get none of that crap if you just go to a proper place in the Caribbean.

I didn’t even know AI existed in Europe!

Having just returned from Rixos Premium in Belek, I’d suggest this. All inclusive, great restaurants, every type of drink you can think of, fantastic pool and bar/s.

It’s a huge hotel, similar to those in Dubai, and you’ll never leave the complex which is freak as there isn’t much else to rave about outside unless you like golf, as there are some great courses.

Other considerations, Portugal and Greece would be my suggestions.
