Fear I might be looking for something that doesn’t exist…

Looking for a fun weekend car, big enough to get the family into. But small enough to fit into a new build garage…

Got a reliable daily family car, so this can be a little more impractical!

I’m looking at a nice Audi TT tomorrow, but fear rear space is going to be too tight.

Am I limited to a hot hatch? Any other bright ideas?

Rear seat space is very tight in a TT. And although it has coupe looks it will drive like a hot hatch anyway.

Nothing at all wrong with a hot hatch. If it's only used occasionally for fun I'd be tempted to go for something like an r53 cooper s at that money.

Abarth 500 if you want something newer.

Not sure if these are too big for your garage but the Celica is a fun car which will only go up in value if looked after.

I had a T sport and space in the back was okay even for adults.

E46 330Ci coupe might be worth a look. It's not as small as some of the other cars mentioned but it's still hot hatch dimensions and you can get actual humans in the back unlike the TT.

Also they look great and drive really nicely, loads around. If they’re too close to the budget look at the smaller engines.

Or go wild and get the convertible. I like them so much I have two. Not as sharp to drive as the coupe but still fun, and the roof comes off.

I'd say yes you're limited to a warm/hot hatch (not that there's anything wrong with that)

If it checks out & you can live with a CAT car then this GTC VXR is a very sweet deal:

But it may be too big for the garage?

That's actually a great shout there! There would actually be genuinely enough space for the family in that. As an alternative, I am not sure if a Mk5 Golf GTI would be a sensible buy at the budget but guess it's worth consideration. However, I'd still take the RX8 I think.
