So for the past 6 years i have been working for a "coach build" company building mostly motorsport transporters. (posh artic trailer's for cars in the back, and pop out office in the front).

This was a great job in the beginning, and used to have more work coming in than the staff they could get.
Got to do some work for some high level motorsport companies including F1, call out's to F1 races etc.

However the director has completely "sunk" the company, now has little work, certainly never getting another build with F1 or top motorsport team, as the reputation is 6ft under!

And constantly not getting paid recently, which is the final straw!

Im a qualified electrician, but have also picked up skills of Hydraulics, tail lifts, trailer DC lighting and brake/air systems.

So now looking for a new job, Coach building seems bit of a dead industry in the UK now, as barely anyone doing it, am in south west near Bristol.

There are plenty of standard electrician jobs, however i would much prefer to work for a company "in house"

Some form of manufacturing that would require an employed electrician.

But i am struggling to find anything like this.

Ive been on £20/Hour, doing 45 hours a week, so really need to earn high £40K's.

Anyone got any idea's of industries that would have "in house" electrician's? Or am i just destined to be a man in a van again? frown

Cheers

From what you’ve said you have a lot of transferable skills to work on railway loco’s.

There’s loads, they may fall under maintenance engineers on sites but electrical bias

Look at CBRE, mitie, JJL, they all have big contracts To provide Fm and have permanent site staff at places like airbus, rolls Royce, GKN, Royal Mail, babcock

For example, there’s one on indeed for mitie working as a maintenance/repairs/small works engineer at oldbury power station

Or there’s another based in corsham which will either be the MOD of the data centres advertised as static enginner for CTR. 42k plus overtime

There’s always loads on the avonmouth docks too, recently saw one for Severn view power station,

instead of using indeed use enginneringjobs.com

Thanks, that is very helpful.

I guess a maintenance electrician is really what i am after.

Will have a good look.

There is also a company i know, who do the NHS trailers (breast/ct scanners), which would be a good fit. Plan to give them a call on Monday to enquire if they have anything.
They may even remember me, as i was loaned to them for a month during covid.

Are there any hearse/ funeral car companies near you? Having been around the Wilcox factory several times it's always a shock seeing someone take a brand new car and cut it in half.
