Remote Update - G83 M4 - Pre-July 2024 Cars

Hi All - you'll be aware I'm sure of the EU legislation which applies to all cars manufactured (or possibly registered) after July 2024...in terms of the ADAS speed awareness and driver assistance systems (lane assist, speed warnings/limiter etc) being turned on by default every time the car is started.

So my car is a pre-July 2024 G83 M4, currently on OS version 11/2023. And I turned all the crap off once, and it's remembered it for every startup. But...it's been nagging me to update to 07/2024.30. And I'm worried that if I do it, all of a sudden the defaults above will be applied on every startup...and then I'll just want to drive it into a tree!!

I've called BMW Connected Drive support and they only say that they don't think so, but can't guarantee it. And that it's my choice to go ahead...but it can't be rolled back to the old version if I go ahead.

So what I'm looking for is someone like me that has a pre-July 2024 car and who upgraded to 07/2024.30 or later and can tell me what happened...and specifically if it's started applying defaults on startup?

I read somewhere that it starts to bong when you exceed the limit it thinks is in place. Having driven on the continent and seen the car mistakenly think an 80 kmh limit applies when actually it only applies to HGVs makes me cringe!

Seeing as no-one on here (or at BMW!) seems to know, I thought I'd post this...

I decided to just do it, trusting that BMW wouldn't be so annoying as suddenly enforce all the ADAS crap on cars where it wasn't required!

Happy to say my car is now on the latest software (07/2025.38) and the ADAS crap is all still off and stays off
