Changing fuel station.

^^^^ Wot 'e said.

Diesel is a dirty burning hydrocarbon.

Use only the best quality from a fuel source that has invested in creating the best burn it can.

BP/Shell/Esso only and oil change every 6000 miles and it will last forever, especially if you keep off the short journeys.

2 stroke oil , not a lot, add it to the diesel.

'Super' diesel is not usually much more expensive than 'normal' diesel, which is probably the easiest way to get some additional additives through the system (assuming the two are actually empirically different and not just a blatant marketing exercise tongue out lol)

I use Shell, it is near to me and quite cheap. But these last two tanks I have used BP Ultimate. That makes a huge difference to my car (BMW 335, so 6 cylinders). But it is dearer, so it will be an occasional 2 tankful treat. BP Ultimate has the same declared cetane value as the others, but tests show it is higher. I understand it also improves the injector spray pattern, so reducing any compression-ignition knock/tick.
I worked in vehicle engineering at a major manufacturer, and our fuel chemist said Shell were the best fuels in her lab experience.

Manufacturers don't usually recommend additives. BMW don't recommend them, and the fuel cap says 'No additives. No bio-diesel (max B7).;

By the way, don't do this.

The last thing a diesel engine needs is more oil in the fuel!

Right, 2 stroke oil as the one you put in a scooter. Very funny.

Interesting!

Would you have a link to that?

Shell and BP are both options locally so it would be interesting to know if there are empirical differences that might make alternating tankfuls a useful strategy.

Please don’t overthink any of this.

Use good quality diesel, change the oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter frequently. That’s it.

I use Asda diesel in my daily and cant say I have ever had any issues really, we don`t have any garages around us that sell premium stuff.
I stick a shot of millers fuel treatment in once a month, probably does very little but makes me feel better.
Oil changes every 5000 miles ish for me which is roughly every 8 months, oil bought in bulk 20L drums so every change works out at roughly £25.

Hydra seemed to have a tangible effect on the crv. I'm usually quite skeptical, but I saw less smoke and a good 3-4mpg bump..

This is years old, make of it what you will. https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/millers-d...

For what its worth i've been putting a couple hundred ml of cheap mineral 2T oil in with every fill up for probably 30 years now, Millers too, plus regular oil changes half or less mileage than recommended, sum total of engine and fuelling issues nil.
I should add, none of our Diesels had a DPF (bar one short owned HDi)

edit to remove invalid comment, misread the OP, different engine.
