Just wondered what the max speed you guys have had out of your Elises / Exiges... Obviously we'll just say they were achieved on the track ;)

The book speed for the 111R is 150mph - normally you can add 10mph for a downhill / wind behind you type of run! I cannot imagine 160mph in an Elise though it would be fun trying...

170mph, 2 up, full of luggage, roof-off...a bit windy but very stable...ran out of space to see if it would max out in 6th at 175mph

its pretty quick to 145mph in 5th and then onto 150mph it slows down.....

Take the official figures with a large pinch of salt.

I hit 143 in the Exige at Bruntingthorpe and that was with a Stage 2 and ITG.

That was still in 5th gear but it had almost stopped accelarating.

If you had a nice straight 5 mile Autobahn I think you could get 145 out of the Exige but no more. The amount of drag caused by the downforce from the spoiler and splitter is really noticeable at that speed.

111R should do a bit more but I think both are 140 mile an hour cars and no more (thats not what they are for though is it!)

Well 'on track', i had mine off the clock, i think its 160 on the clock, i was quick up to 145 then the last few mph took ages, preety stable at that speed but my old boxster S was more comfortable at that speed. i have much more fun in the twisties than vmax.

This fast!
Taken on the autobahn in Germany so completely legal (I think the gearing means that's around 130 in real life)

Think I did 120 on the 111R testdrive... didn't realise until the (German autobahn ) dealer told me.

143 on the rev limiter in 5th in a S1 111S on the way to Le Mans this year, two up with some luggage. Only to have my mate in his 360 blast past at 190.

I've had my S1 sport 160 at 155mph. It may have been able to climb to the 160 maybe, but it would have taken a lot of extra distance to gain those few mph. I just gave up in the end, didn’t want it to blow up at that speed. I don’t think I will ever do it again. It was stable, but it really did feel like I was hitting light-speed star wars style with it being so low to the ground !!!

piooly -what mods have you done to your 160? generally you need 200bhp+ in an Elise to get 150-55mph out of it. What was the RPM? ..should be about 6700rpm in 5th with that gearbox (you can see how much your speedo is out then!)

Mine hits the limiter at 145 quite easily, I need to try fitting an S2111S gearbox or a nice 6 speed box really.
