Either one glaringly bad?

Both with 10yr warranty.

I have the Viessmann in one of my properties and it works really well. Very efficient and extremely quiet. Has been much better than the other places that all have Valliant boilers in them. No view on the Ideal

Last time I bought a boiler, a friend who installed and repaired them said Ideal were the most reliable, with simple robust internals.
Easy to get any spares and generally low cost of ownership.
That was a few years ago now, Veissmann seem to have a much bigger presence in the UK market now than they did then.

I think these days, you should consider what works best with whatever controls you are considering. Commissioning a boiler and setting up the controls optimally can be a lot of work and some plumbers are not the right people to be doing it.

I'd be looking for a recommended installer as much as choosing the brand of boiler.

Which Viessmann is it? The Vitodens 100-W, 050-W, 200-W ?

What heating controller are you planning to par them with?

We had Vitodens 100-W 32kW Heat Only installed back in March. It's not really been challenged with the warm weather but certainly quiet and seems to be running well for us. Connected to Nest so not used their app.

Thanks all, the Viessmann quote just says 30kw combi boiler. The plan is for either to pair with an existing Hive system.

Literally every single plumber (some call themselves heating technicians) seems to have their own opinion. You’ll have a couple who swear by Baxi and claim that Veissmann are crap and the next guy you speak to will only fit Veissmanns and say he wouldn’t go anywhere near Baxi.

I’ve come to the conclusion that their opinions are totally worthless and, as mentioned before, it’s best to choose something that’ll do what you want it to do and work with whatever controller and setup you plan on using - and for the right price.

With that being said, does anyone know if Evohome works with Viessmanns? I want the one with the built in water storage tank…….

The Ideal Logic is a very good boiler.
Viessmann spares are very expensive.
My personal opinion, go with the Ideal.

Key thing would be the controls.

You want to take advantage of modulation and probably weather compensation.
certainly not old on/off thermostats.

Of those two I'd go viessmann.

We've an Ideal Vogue it's now 10 years old. Recommended by plumber (as above all have their opinions), installed after a complete re-plumb of the entire property, essentially started from scratch.

It's been reliable and efficient; serviced annually; had one part replaced under warranty (faulty gauge); no other issues.10 years old. Based on this, and one we had in a previous property, I'd have one again.
