Ignition barrel/switch connector plug.

The plug that goes onto the ignition barrel has a broken retaining clip so I'm after a replacement. Anyone got an idea of where to get one from.
Black plug in photo.

Was your problem the ignition switch? Mine failed and I found that the switch is a from a Vauxhall Astra, Carlton etc. so I presume the whole assembly is.

I replaced mine, you could see sparks from it with the column shroud removed in 2023, with a hot engine. I think they are from the Cavalier and other Vauxhalls, but do check they are the same:

Problem is he needs the actual wiring connector which is part of the car loom, will be Vauxhall as suggested but difficult to find now.
I would try and find a way of holding it on somehow, maybe clever use of some cable ties.
If it is causing issues maybe the terminals could be removed from it and put directly on to the terminals, would need to be covered with heat shrink though.

Thanks for that as that's exactly the point. I am thinking the same as drawing a blank trying to source a connector. I will also see if its possible to 3d print a new one.

Have you asked the breakers if they've got a loom to cut up? There can't be much call for full looms, they probably bin them with the rest of the unwanted parts.

Frank the connections to the ignition switch are just standard spade connectors, Just use seperate connections and tie the loom to secure it should be fine.

Just learnt from my son (hes a snior engineer in automotive business) that its common piece in many vauxhalls and a recall was issued by Lotus. Fix was solder directly onto the switch and add in a 5 way connector. We will do that mod.

Sounds like a plan, I would not have an issue with properly crimped connections to be honest but soldered will work if you can get enough heat into them without meltage.

Belle has a good point as the ignition switch is quite a flimsy affair I would not put a soldering iron anywhere near it.
A Spade connects the solenoid connection to the starter motor and that recieves a lot more vibration than the ign switch but stays put. so spades should be fine.

Thanks folks points taken as well. I only have 2 wires to consider 12v feed in to the switch and 12v out to fuse board.

FYI I have separate start button and wiring on the dashboard.
