Attention Comrades! Please familiarise yourself with the celebrations of the glorious victory of the CCP over the Japanese empire, eighty years ago, from glorious news agency of the people including comrade Helen Davidson!

https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2025/sep/03...

All of the important people of the world are in attendance:

Even the King of Covid Lockdowns Dan Andrews:

He's standing at the rear-right in the group photo.

But Dan is not there in any government capacity, it should be said. He now runs a couple of businesses trying to get Chinese investment into Australia. Still trying after his signing the state of Victoria, Australia up to the Belt and Road initiative went awry. But don't worry, the current premier will be going to China in a few days time.

I was surprised to learn recently that some of Xi's siblings are Australian citizens.

I happened to wake up in the night, ended up scrolling through the tv channels and came across their military parade, jeez it was impressive! I’m not sure how effective their kit is, probably drone fodder going by Ukraine but the level of discipline and co-ordination that can be achieved in an authoritarian regime is incrediblelaugh: I for one welcome our CCP overlords!

ETA I think Xi must have got a good deal on black tyre paint as well!

Say what you like about the Chinese but they do a good military parade! I can imagine the pangs of jealousy from the Oval Office!

It would be nice to never have to find out, but as they say - quantity has it own quality.

I expect China is together enough to not do the Russia thing with one T-14 Armata - sporting a Lada Riva engine - towing a bunch of cardboard copies.

One thing that's a bit murky is their corruption levels. It's not as taken as a given as Russia, but it might be a significant detriment.

As for the white devil at the back, if I were China I'd have him waiting off to the side until the pic was in the bag.

Another of these farcical displays where there's belittlement of the nationalists(understandable but still colossally thin-skinned given they did more of the fighting than the communists) or no mention of US assistance pre-Pearl Harbour in the shape of the Flying Tigers and from 1942 onward the Lend Lease supply firehose which kept both factions going in China when the japanese were on the advance.

The Chinese parade has made Trump's lonely birthday event look remarkably lame. It must be a conspiracy against the USA rofl

The modern day Axis powers, bit a rogues gallery with Putin and Jong Un as guests of honour, Trump no doubt would have gone but they didn't invite him.

China definitely seem to be doing things properly whether that’s their fancy new airforce/planes, huge navy, missile tech etc. the US currently has the upper hand in terms of fleet but are totally outclassed by production rates. Think the analysts have suggested that the west were too focused on Afghanistan/Iraq style warfare leaving china to get the march on hypersonics, 5th and 6th gen kit, peer to peer fighting, production etc. Squeaky bum time in Washington I suspect!

It's pretty much hopeless when it comes to matching them on ships. There's no way capacity can be magicked up out of nowhere.

But most of the stuff the US has is relentlessly battle proven. There's a world of difference between a parade and real life action.

I wonder whether China will start letting some of their gear out into the wild to see what happens.

A Pakistani J-10 taking on an Indian Rafale is the first time heavyweight Chinese kit has ever performed in battle as far as I can tell, but details are rather non existent.
