I have had an iPace for a number of years now and absolutely love it, I purchased used using a PCP through my bank as I was unsure on what the secondhand values would be and the GFV was high on the deal and the interest low. Needless to say values have continued to tank and the value is now well below the balloon so the iPace will go back in December.

I’m a little stuck as to what to get next, I want something a similar size to the iPace but with over 300 miles range. The replacement doesn’t need to be as quick as the Jag but something sub 6 seconds would be good. I’m going used again but would want something relatively new as I will want to keep it for over 3 years.

Shortlist so far is:

Škoda Enyaq 85- I know not sub 6 seconds to 60 but the VRS doesn’t review great.
Škoda Elroq VRS- maybe a little small and only just released
BMW IX 40- Similar range to the iPace
BMW i50- Less practical than the iPace!?
Tesla Model Y- Not sure

Basically have I missed anything?

The upcoming ix3 neue klasse might be worth waiting for, very positive initial reviews. I think it gets officially launched in a few days.

Hard act to follow. Taycan was only EV that I thought was better to drive than the iPace, but simply not worth the cost to change.

This, plus the new CLA coming out. You are looking at 400 miles range at least in the real world from both vehicles.

if you "absolutely love" the current car, why bother changing model for something that may have a bit more range but be inferior in numerous areas?

Ford Explorer/Capri, a much better handling VW MEB alternative.

The extended range RWD is under 6s to 60, the AWD version is 5s.

I've done 12k miles in my Explorer in a year, very pleased with nearly all aspects of it.

Looks like his balloon is too high given the depreciation so he is much better off handing it back, unless they agree to sell it to him cheaper.

In terms of driving dynamics, it has to be the Tesla or BMW from my standpoint.
Don't get me wrong, I think I advised more people into a Skoda Enyaq more than any of the others, as it's a good car. It also drives better than 90% of the VAG range, but that still doesn't put it in the ballpark of the I-Pace, and asking sub 6 seconds shouldn't be an issue in an modern EV.
As for practicality, I found the I-Pace to be quite cramped but I'm surprised to see it does have a bigger boot than the iX3.

Compared to the Model Y, the interior in the Y is a bit more sparse but it's a lot bigger inside and the infotainment feels decades ahead. I would have never gone for it before based on looks (I'm shallow like that), but I think the new one looks acceptable, especially next to BMW's offerings.

Great time to test drive I'd say.

If it weren't for your 300+ mile range I would suggest the Genesis GV60. Updated version comes with a 84kWh battery and during summer I do get 300+ miles from my 77kWh car, however mine is the RWD version, you would want the sport for the performance and that would drop you below to around 280 with the new larger battery,
Oddly enough was at a bash last night where a friend had looked to replace his iPace (which had replaced a Tesla Model S) with a Genesis GV60 but he could not get a test drive as he was too old for their insurance policy. He now have a Kia EV3 (hit wife has a model 3).

We were in this position a few months ago - handed back an iPace (with a whole lot of negative equity!) after 4 happy years of ownership. We looked at the above but ultimately plugged for the Q8 E-tron 55, as my wife liked the look of them and I thought they looked alright value for money.

It's fine, but to be honest I miss the iPace - it felt a bit more special whereas the audi feels like a big, robust, tank.

My wife had no appetite for another Jag, but if I was in your position I think I'd consider:

- getting one of the many £15-£20k used iPaces and just saving a bunch of money
- A used Taycan/E-tron GT. I tried in vain for this (our kids have little legs!) as I think this would feel more special than any of the suvs

I know neither of these gives you the 300 miles of range. Personally while the audi has greater range than the ipace I really don't notice it, but then we very, very rarely needed to charge the ipace on the go.

Edited to add - not sure if you're aware of this, but it's likely that you'll be able to end your PCP now (and pay nothing) if you wish. I believe relatively standard PCP wording has a clause where if you've paid more than 50% of the debt then you can terminate the contract early and hand back the car. This is what we did. Could appeal if you're currently paying a relatively high monthly premium for the ipace.

Personal opinion of course but everything you’ve picked absolutely sucks.

Either a Polestar 3, XC40 recharge ( might not crack 300 ) or EQC Mercedes for me tbh.

Or hide an Airtag in it, and follow it to whichever auction it goes to... wink

You would have to be brave to take on a Polestar 3 until they fix all the software glitches. The owners forums are a train wreck of ongoing issues. It’s a lovely car though and much more spacious inside than an iPace. Feels quite special too unlike many other SUVs.

Not familiar with the issues to be honest but my work has a fleet of the 2’s that I do very much enjoy driving.
