Hi

I've just been for a test drive in a range rover sport 3.0 diesel.
After the drive i turned of the engine and lifted the bonnet.
When i removed the oil filler cap an reasonable amount of wispy smoke came out.
Is this normal when the engine isn't even running ? i didn't try with it running.
Any help please.

Thanks

Yes, happens with pretty much every car. It's just vapour caused by the heat of running the engine.

Agreed, this is likely normal vapour/condensation escaping

Wouldn’t worry about that.

Make sure everything works properly, it’s got a full history and hasn’t been attacked by the chav stick.

Thanks for that, I have now driven another and it did the exact same thing.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I've gone for a 2014 3.0 sdv6 HSE dynamic with 65000 miles full service history and all the front suspension arms done.
Everything seems to work and drives well

Apparently it’s only 2% of engines that suffer the crankshaft failure.

Makes me part of an exclusive club…. hehe

We’re also in a club of elite people who actually know/ care being petrol heads. I got sick of every time I turned the key wondering if today was the day and moved it on hehe

Pah.
You need that level of excitement in your life.
The will it/wont it is a great game.

Until it does it and you need to pay for a new engine.
