A few weeks ago I bought one of these 972.606 from eBay on a whim.
It was after watching a YouTube video from NekkidWatchmaker.
Maybe not the best but I have left it with a local watchmaker to make the best of it that he can.

As can be seen there is water damage from 12-3.
I’ll let it go and hopefully once the new crystal is installed and fresh seals fitted, it will be good to go as a daily knock about watch with a bit of character.

Yes,I didn’t really give them that much attention at the time but I can appreciate them now.
Hopefully get it back later this week. It won’t be perfect but as long as it looks nicely worn in and is reliable then I will be happy.

Turned out brilliant - handsome watch and attractive ghosting on the insert!

How did they improve the dial so much or is it just that it looks better, out of direct light, under the crystal?

He gave it a gentle clean , cleaned and relumed the hands.
New crystal brightened it up too.
I think that the position of the damage means it is slightly hidden by the shadow if you understand.
The rest of the watch seems to catch the eye and divert attention away.
As I said, I’m so pleased with final result. I really enjoy the slim, smaller watch , along with the vintage (?) looks.
I’m only sorry I missed these when they were new.

It’s nice to see some appreciation for the watch, thanks to everyone who has commented.
