For me it was a 911 after an 'interesting' passenger ride with a colleague plus it is a car that presents a challenge/risk when pushing on.

So how did you end up with a Porsche?

I always had hot hatches and JDM cars when I was in my twenties. Then once I had enough cash scrabbled together a 911 felt like the next natural progression that I had to try. It was a leggy 996 with clear fried eggs and I loved it. Been driving 911s or Caymans ever since!

I had been without a “toy” in the garage for a year or two. Then my mate asked me to take him pick a Tiger kit car up. I took him and I later drove it and he said I should get one.

I’d always fancied a caterham so went and test drove one. Loved it but it was slow as it was a 270 model. Looking in the showroom at a 420 but it was £40 odd thousand. A lot of money for a bath tub on wheels that the Mrs wouldn’t really go out in.

But if I got a GT4 we could do road trips, trackdays and everything…

Plus it was my first Porsche, first proper engine and my uncle always gave me 1:43 Porsche models with a magazine as a kid.

Me and my mates have a saying “no time for games” when we make daft decisions.

So that is how I went from a £7k car to a £70k one and my first Porsche biggrin

I got dumped by a girlfriend (having wasted 18 months dealing with her rather challenging ways) and I thought “fk it” and went and bought a 2002 Boxster 986 (this was back in 2010) and signed up to a bunch of dating apps same time…happy days smile

I was looking for a two seater sports car to share with my father ... we were looking at Lotus Eclat / Elise / Esprit ... and went to look at a 924 in the showroom at JCT600 near Yeadon (Leeds).

I still remember the test drive, I was sitting in the back of the 924 with Allan Lindley driving ... it was memorable and we bought it !!! Metallic blue with a brown pinstripe interior ... and black painted wheels.

Condorman car chase first sighting, followed by Athena poster on the wall, I can even remember getting the bus to get it at the city centre and being so excited.

Always wanted one after seeing my dad’s friends 996 turbo in 2004.

Went in to buy my own 987.1 in 2008. Bloody thing bore scored and I swore I would never buy another Porsche.

Currently have a 996 turbo on K24 turbos running 600ish BHP. It’s a bloody rocket ship.

Next car is either a 991S, 718S or an Alfa Romeo Gulia Quad.

My late father went to buy a company car but came home with a 964 RS for himself, as you do! As a 10yo. that car was hugely impressionable on me. From that point on, they became a mainstay in the family and was what got my brother and i hooked on everything cars. That was 30+ years ago. Fast forward to today and this December i will be the same age as he was when he bought that 964, hopefully with a newly spec'd GT3 delivered.

very young. Back in the 80s there was a Porsche deaership open in Maidstone.

After weeks, possibly years of begging Dad finally took me there. And down a ramp, in the semi-gloom were second hand cars. 924,944,928. Fabulous, and so very exotic to me

When I was 10, for one holiday I **was** a 911 Turbo. Reversing into bed, getting over-steery in the playground, and turbo boosting past my Sister and her dolls.

You could say I was smitten from an early age. Finance has never allowed me to have many of then, or the very exotic ones, but the desire has always been there

Now I am quite old. 924 Carrera GT was my first Porsche, bought from a Porsche dealer in Chelsea, cannot remember the name. Mine was black with the red decals, SNG 91W.
This was the inspiration:

Still got the Mag, sadly not still got the car. In its day it was a superb car, quick and effortless. I was in my early 20’s then so quite a big purchase, it cost the same as my first house!!!! Which has pretty much been the theme of my car life since, my car fleet has often been worth more than my house laugh. Let’s face it you have to have your priorities right.

Sorry about the crappy picture, no phone cameras in those days.

Owned Porsche’s almost continuously since then, often more than one. You could call me a lifer. Well right up to the point where my local OPC decided I wasn’t a worthy customer any more. It did stick in the throat a bit when some 30 something sales tt was telling me I wasn’t worthy of a 991.2 GT3 allocation. Still I bought my R8 RWS instead which I love to bits and hope to run forever.

Same here, back in the day the group of local kids we used to play football on a quiet side road and the much older sister of one kids had a boyfriend with a banana yellow whale tail 911 who used to park on this road.

Saw that car a lot, took another 30+ years till I had my chance at owning a 911 but not banana yellow.

Some cracking stories here!

I bought a second hand 996 C4S in 2007 following a divorce. I had orginally bought a Maserati 4200GT but got a letter from her solicitor threatening to freeze all assets if I continued spending money on fast depreciating Italian sports cars. So I swapped it for a slower depreciating German one.

Because I wanted something that wasn't a Fiesta or a Metro as my first car and it was there as a trade in at the garage I worked at.

It was a red 924 and since then I have pretty much always had a Porsche in my life. I currently have a 992 Targa 4S.

Same here.

I've had a variety of sporty cars over the years and most recently I had a couple of Morgans - as I wanted something different. I bought a new Aero +8 (4.8 V8) which was a gentleman's hot rod. Mrs NDA was incredibly stoic for many years and endured a couple of trips around France in it. Not really a car for 2,500 mile road trips to be honest.

She started mentioning Porsche's, so I bought a C4S Cabriolet last year. It's probably the most complete GT car I've owned - it feels cleverly evolved and is perfect for my usage which is a month in Provence every year. I am really enjoying it.

Growing up I loved motorsports & Porsche were the most successful Le Mans team.... soooooo.

It's still one of the things I really love about the brand; seeing all the racing tech making its way into the road cars.
