BMW Velt M Car Rental - Day trip from Munich
Discussion
I’m hoping to rent an M3/4 for a day from BMW Velt in Munich next week.
I’m hoping another PHer has done this previously and can recommend where to go for the 6/7 hour I have the car. My initial thoughts are to head South, but I haven’t been in the area for 10 years so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Any other insight would be great as well.

If you want to avoid traffic I would stay off the A8. I've done the BMW Welt rental a few times.
One route I did was the A92 past Landshut to Deggendorf, then the A3 down towards Passau, dropping down the A94 through Braunau am Inn, and then continuing along the A94 back in to Munich.
Another option would be taking the A95 south to Garmisch and then taking some of the mountain roads west through northern Austria before heading north on the A7 to Memmingen and then running back into Munich along the A96.
