If things go to plan we will have 160K deposited into a joint current account by the end of tomorrow.

We want to have instant access to the money.

It's some time since I had this conundrum.

What's the best thing to do?

My heart says Espada but I've got to activate my head - urgently.

How often do you get the chance to buy an Espada?
If you don't, you'll regret it!
If you don't like it, and assuming you don't crash it or explode the engine, you can sell it! I would assume it's done most of it's depreciating by now.

Avoiding the tax on the interest is a problem.

Another request for some help.

I've now got 150K + in a TSB Current Account and I am a bit overwhelmed with some family member illness and will be for a while.

Has anyone got a temporary plan for me to put this money somewhere so I still have access and can make a more longer term decision some point in the future.

As said, I've just got too much going on with family to be able to think and act clearly.

Thanks

First, consider instant access cash ISA's - try 'Moneysavingexpert' for their recommendations. That's £40,000 invested, tax free, assuming you haven't already funded ISA's in this tax year.

Second, Chase are currently offering 4.75% if you get their current account. You then add on their instant access "Boosted Saver". It's app only so you need a phone each but it's really quick and easy. Do that separately for you and for Mrs. RGG (so up to £75,000 each depending on ISA's). That's my suggestions, amyway.

No family issues in my case, but movinig a large distance / making myself "homeless" etc .....

I sold up in Surrey recently ( owned ) and the proceeds were dropped into my ( coincidentally TSB) account. I need at some indeterminaate time in future bit by bit for a land purchase and house build so... about a week after I wnet to branch and they transefered to my NS&I savings account which I had kept open before with a notional amount.
Didn't want to get into complications of multiple accounts

As seems now things might take a bit longer and I have the time to fiddle around , I put 100K into premium bonds and topped up my Marcus account( retrn rate reason ) A year or so I guess so will leave like that . ISA all allocated so could not use that

Sorry to hear that.

If you just want to sleep well knowing the money is safe an earning a bit I'd look at NS&I.

You won't make the most you probably could but it's Government backed so 100% safe.

Per other responses with more effort you can get more reward.

Thanks for the pointers - I'll get on to it and try and move it out of the current account.
