Hi guys,

Recently bought an audi RS and after a visit to audi for warranty work (bought the car with damage, didnt look hard enough - will try better next time) they're saying they cant stress enough about having the car serviced and warrantied by them through an extended warranty. I've always watched Ricky from REperformance on youtube and love the work he and his team do. I also watch MRC tuning and now they've got a B9.5 RS4 for shop development I'd much rather take my car to somewhere like these 2. Question is, I'm new to RS ownership so want to do right by the car, has anyone dealt with them personally other than watch their socials? Is it worth it? Or should I just stick to main dealer as they're not all bad? It's only an RS5 so hardly a Bugatti or anything mental haha.

If it's out of the original warranty I'd go for a specialist.
They'll be dealing with S and RS cars far more than a main dealer, rather than churning out 30,000 mile oil changes on 2 litre diesels.

Been using a combination of Ricky@REP, Doug@MRC and Grizz@Unit20 for almost 15 years now between them across 2x RS6 (500hp C5 and 950hp C6) and got nothing but good words for all of them.

Each has their own areas of "speciality" on top of the usual day to day stuff i.e. REP = engine/GB rebuilds...........MRC = ECU/TCU Tuning..............Unit20 = general workshop & loan cars etc but I'm happy with all 3, usually picking whichever one is closest to me unless its something that I need that additional specialism for.

In fact I'm off to MRC in a few days for service on the C6.

To be clear however, I'm 100% sure there's more equally good VAG companies out there so my list isn't a "only use these folks" list by any means.

In the same way not all Dealers will be bad, not all Independents/specialists will be good.

Choose wisely.

If you have purchased the Audi extended warranty, you may find there's a stipulation in there for main dealer servicing.

Also if the engine goes bang tomorrow out of warranty, (hopefully not) A full dealer history increases your chances of getting a goodwill contribution, outside of warranty, towards repair/replacement.

That's what i thought. I can get an extended warranty as my cars only 31k so atleast for a few years that'd be covered but due to workload I'm certain bread and butter jobs would be a specialist all day long with an RS..?

I've followed your thread for years mate. I'd love a C6 RS6 but my wallet isn't that deep unfortunately, I follow the updates as soon as I see there's a post. May i ask what the price is for your service? Would they be able to update the digital service book too? Sorry for st questions, I'm coming from a bogo focus haha.

I’ve just got a 3 year old BMW, weeks after the original warranty expired.
I’ve paid the main dealer for their 2,3,4 year warranty extended warranty but I confirmed as long as I use a vat registered garage for work I’m fine and the warranty will still work - I have a very good choice of local specialists that’ll be doing as much as possible, rather me than pay main dealer prices for what could sometimes be less care and expertise.

I’m amazed the dealer bothered to stress about the ongoing service and warranty. I’ve been almost told off a couple of times for taking older cars to dealers.

I think they're just pushing tbh, but every phonecall she'll ask if I've looked at her colleagues email of service plan + extended warranty. I mentioned about specialist maintenance instead of main dealer and it was almost like i'd murdered her dog. She said no one will be able to service or look after the car better than them...

Hi, cheers for reading my thread! With my car being so heavily modified, I generally end up doing more during a standard servicing than a non-modded car might do (diffs, gearbox, spark plugs etc) so my costs aren't a fair reflection of what a service might cost, but on average it's £500+.

As for digital records, most can do that but, with my car being from 2008, I've still got an old fashioned book!

Not sure how helpful any of that was tbh biggrin

I've used MRC for longer than I care to remember B7 S4, C6 RS6, S7, RS7, R8 etc. They know their stuff and my favourite thing unlike a dealer is that every service tech isn't out for a blast in your car. A 750bhp RS7 is like a Nissan Micra to them.

That car list sums it up really - yeah, I shouldn't be worried. Thanks for your input. I agree about their test drives, I get they need to do them but to what degree is too much haha... leaving 4 black lines on the road probably.

Doesn't sound too sad for what gets done on yours! Probably more due to age and mods but still not eye-watering. Unless its the 50p oil seal? Haha

Ahh the 50p oil seal and the corroded coolant pipe in the wheel arch, I had both of those gems. £10K+ later...........
