After a bit of deliberation, I test drove this XE S today and was pretty much instantly sold on it.
I'm picking it up on Friday and it ticks all my boxes. Fast, comfy, the engine feels special and it fell well within my car hunting budget. Just a fantastic thing to drive.
It's got very low miles (35000) and great service history.

I'm intending to keep this long term (for real this time), so I've started this thread with an eye to some mods in future. The suspension is absolutely spot on out the box for me so that will be staying put, but I can definitely see the room for some more grunt in future. It's a great engine though, my first supercharged car and I 100% 'get' supercharging now after years of driving turbo cars.
I wasn't entirely sold on the colour combo after my girlfriend said it looked like Deadpool inside, but in real life it looks much better than in photos

It's definitely not slow! It's more the combo of comfort and handling that surprised me, it feels extremely well sorted and stiff without being crashy.

Didn't get a chance to put my foot to the floor but I'm looking forward to finding out!

I'm currently obsessed with these
They seem like good value for something slightly different, understated with an interesting engine
Still annoyed they never made an estate!

Rear silencer delete, pulley and a remap!

I really like these, there's a couple local to me, they're so subtle. Great choice.

That looks lovely!

If only Jaguar had made some of the more powerful models with a manual gearbox I might have had one on my radar to replace my BMW 330i.

Insurance and everything sorted so just waiting for Friday to pick it up! Insurance surprisingly reasonable, only 90 quid more than the Fiesta.
I think I'll lay off modifying it for a year or so, then look at a remap and swap out the pulleys.

Took her home and gave her a good drink of 99! Brilliant drive home, it wafts along effortlessly but handles exceptionally well down a B road.

Takes off like a stabbed rat as well when you get on it, not the fastest thing ever but it has a really nice powerband

First problem! The gearbox locks out Sport mode unless I'm stationary.
I assume it's something to do with the shift position sensor, because in my Golf R a few years ago it would sometimes think I hadn't put it in park when I switched it off. The operation of the gearbox is absolutely fine in either drive or sport and it feels spot on using the paddles, so I don't think there's anything actually wrong. I live near the Jag Specialist in Donny so will get it looked at some time before the dealer warranty runs out.

Other than that the car is fking fantastic. I love the engine, it handles beatifully and it's an extremely comfy, effortless cruiser. The chassis could easily handle quite a bit more power, resisting the temptation to swap the pulley out and remap it will be difficult!

Great looking car, did these come in the two different power levels like the FType?

Yes, but not at the same time. 2017+ got 380hp, this is a 340 one. Still gets a shift on, very different power delivery to the turbos I've got used to over the last several years!

As it turns out I'm a fking idiot. I didn't realise that when you're moving you need to push the knob down slightly, there's nothing wrong at all

Looks great in the red, cracking all rounder car.

Personally I thought Jag demonstrated that they could really take it to the Germans with the last gen XF/XE.

It's leagues better to drive than the 330d I had a couple of years ago!

I've spent about 300 miles in the car over the last week, it's not without its foibles. The interior is a bit weird ergonomically and the ICE could really do with something like an iDrive controller so I don't have to fiddle with tiny little touchscreen icons at arms' length. Android Auto has played up a few times. The door cards look nice but they just mean there's nowhere decent to put my right arm.

But it just glides along the road extremely comfortably, and when I'm pressing on the steering is fantastic, it's ridiculously composed, it turns in sharply and the engine is so nice to rev out. It's just as happy cruising around town as it is belting down a B road chasing the redline.

1000 miles ticked off in the Jag in 2 weeks

Loving it so far! MPG is pretty much as expected on the motorway but maybe a bit worse on shorter trips, my 8 mile run into town for the gym can get some abysmal fuel economy if there's a bit of traffic, readout said 14mpg a few days ago!

I know some people think it's a bit bland looking but the styling works I think, I'd like fatter arches and a bit more going on at the rear but it looks well otherwise.
I will definitely be doing some tweaking after winter though, 340hp is obviously plenty but the chassis is so capable that the engine never dominates the experience. I think around 400-420bhp would be the right amount for the car, not pushing it too hard but it would help it feel more like a Jag sports saloon should in my head, i.e a bit unhinged. Intakes might liberate a bit more supercharger whine too

That looks lovely. They’re on my radar.
What mpg average over those 1000 miles have you achieved?
Heard they can be quite frugal - mid 30s on a run for instance.
