I thought I would pop the wheels off my GT today to give them a good clean. My existing trolley jack doesn't fit under the car without putting wood blocks under the wheels. As its over 20 years old and does tend to lower itself slightly during use I think its time for a new one. I would like one that fits under the car without any other help. Can anybody recommend one?

thanks

I used the Halfords 2 ton Advanced low profile aluminium trolley jack. You can get the appropriate Renault jacking puck on eBay.

I use the standard (non-advanced) Halfords 2T low profile and it fits well, however it does start to slowly lower itself after a while, perhaps it's a faulty unit. Just a friendly reminder to always use axle stands, for which you can also get rubber pads. wink

I bought a...

Clarke CTJ1250AC 1.25 Tonne Aluminium Trolley Jack

...and it works brilliantly - low enough to easily fit under my lowered Alpine. I bought a Renault style specific jack pad as well but I've never used it because the jack's own pad is soft and wide enough (imo) to support the car without damaging the jacking point. Plus I feel it would be more stable without (again imo).

No problems so far - great for adjusting the dampers in 5 mins flat.

+1 for the Clarke 'low profile' Jack. Even used to fit under my old Esprit.
