Image and reliability.

The first generation has a rather poor image for drug dealer, tribal tattoo steroid gym user with anger management issues etc.

2nd generation seems to be better, still expensive enough to not be in the council estates yet. But can be stolen very easy.

The new ones don’t have the pedigree of the older FF Rangies. Truth is all new Rangies, especially Sports are also new money. Therefore council.

Round here G Wagens or Lambo Urus’ are the SUV of choice for new money.

You’re right about RRS though, lovely cars, I should know but they do attract a certain type.

I think unlike most JLR products the Mk1 RRS has dated quite badly.

Agreed. Also, they aren't as spacious as what they are based on (D3/4 underpinnings) and dare I say it, the back is quite cramped for a Range Rover product and they didn't really improve the rear seat space until L461 came along in 2021.

However, if you are desperate to get into a Range Rover product, they remain excellent value and you got leccy tailgate and the 8 speed box combined with the 3,6TDV8 engine and that is a great combo.

The early ones have dated quite badly though. Facelift from about 09 is much much nicer.

IIRC - The RRSport (L320) never came with the TDV8 & 8spd. The 3.6 TDV8 was discontinued at around the same time they went to the 8spd and the TDV8 (4.4) was then only available in the Range Rover (L322).

I'd say a clean, clear glass TDV8 model in the right colour (not black or white) would be quite a nice purchase.

I'm not a fan of some of the "wood" interior trim that was used but i'm sure a solution can be found this this, I think you could definitely get aluminium trim in in the face lift 5.0 SC model which might be backwards compatible.
