Boot support strut

Just in case you find it doesn't work: take the strut off completely, and use a plastic shoe-horn (kept handily in the car) to carefully prise open the bootlid at the back right-hand corner. Also saves the bonnet lid from twisting somewhat due to the uneven pressure on one side from the strut. Works on 3000S's too, just dont keep any laptops or Pentaxs in your boot !
I've just fitted a strut from a breakers yard (from a toyota corrola - £4),
It fits well (bolt/screw on attachement plates) but there are two problems:
when closed the lid is forced up at the corner on the same side as the strut (this is presumably why TVR moved the catch to the same side as the stut on later models) (mine is an S2)
the boot opens quite vigourously when the catch is released
is the stabilus strut any better (anyone have any experience doing this on cars with a central boot catch)?
how are you getting on heyiga?

A previous owner has fitted a gas strut to my S4 which is far too powerful and forces the corner of the boot lid up permanently proud of the surround. It's got to come off or be severely adjusted before it distorts the lid -- if it hasn't already. What did TVR fit originally?

If you are still struggling RS components is the answer 
I neede a new one in the Griffith, once you know what size you want ( as the have loads) you should be able to get one delivered in a day. see this thread HERE
Rs has diagrams of where to do the measurements from to get the correct ones. and then get the adjustable one.
You realise the pressure very slowly using an allen key stopping every few secs as you cant get the pressure back. Once the correct pressure you feel is right for your nboot is right thats it voila

I had a strut on mine but removed it because it pushed the driver side corner up.
GRP will eventually warp, so best not to stress it like that.
It is a fairly simple job to relocate the catch to one side, better still is to also add a second catch operated by the same cable to the opposite side too.
