Have the timing chains and guides been done as these engines are notorious for them failing and they ALL do fail its an engine out repair and cost from £3k plus

Wrong engine the BNS isn't prone to chain failure, the S4 yes.

The timing chain and guides WILL fail at some point as i said they all do, has your specialist had the engine out and inspected them? Do you have anything in writing confirming their current condition as the only way you can inspect them properly as being OK is to pull the engine out as the timing chains are at the bulkhead of the cars body. The only inspection you can do with the engine in is listen for noises and use a code reader all of which don't detect how worn they WILL be. I've asked this because with the chains and guides done the car is worth more, not done simply affects its value a lot irrespective of overall condition.

Has it ever had a carbon clean and deflap? Common issues on the B7 later down when it’s done higher mileage.

Thanks
