Mrs Mark83 has seen a used car she likes at a Toyota dealership. Does anyone have experience negotiating a discount. Is there room negotiate, or like BMW, the price is the price and a couple of hundred pounds if you're lucky?

Car will be serviced and MOT'd ahead of collection.

Same as any other main dealer now rarely will they discount a car just because you ask as a shrewd negotiator. You may have a chance if you can reference a comparable car for sale at a lower price which is also AUC.

My Mum bought an AUC Lexus not too long ago and they were fairly open to making a deal. In fact I think she haggled nowhere near enough and could have got more off. Toyota should be similar.

Depends on how comparably priced it is,how much it is in the first place ( and what margin the dealer has ) how long in stock , are you partexing , how good you are at negotiation etc.
If you can't get money off the car then perhaps cost of next service /tyres etc might be worth an ask -money is money.
Given imminent plate change , dealers might be happy to make an instant sale and if your Wife loves the car and its "perfect" there should be an ability to get something off.

With the advent of Cinch and the late Cazoo cutting out the cost of fancy showrooms, main dealer groups have had to be more competitive so usually there doesnt seem to be much movement IME. Always worth an ask though if done right, worst they can say is no or to throw in a service plan/mats and flaps as they say.

^^^ Basically this ^^^

We have some friends and she is the Head of Sales for a very large Mercedes dealership. She says that every vehicle stands on its own wheels and there are no-ways of knowing what discounts they’ll give before you walk through the doors as there are many variables at work…

How long have they had it in stock? What’s the effect on the stocking loan plan - will it overage and they’ll have to self-fund? What other interest have they had in it? What’s it stand them at financially?

There are sometimes deals to be done on the right car, at the right time if it’s becoming a problem child but as a prospect you’ll have no way of knowing.

What they won’t discount today they’ll cut their own legs off on it in nine weeks time to have it gone.

By my maths it's been in the trade two months and covered 0 miles from the video they sent us with a shot of the dash so I'd say they've had it two months. If the mileage hasn't increased, they've had little interest or at least it hasn't been test driven.

Close to a deal that is several hundred pounds off and free delivery, which given the distance, is £255 based on their quotes £/mile. It's also the cheapest AUC in the spec she wants, in the country.

Happy with tyre depths from the health check, and it'll be serviced and MOT,d before collection.

TL;DR - yes discounts can be had but only in the hundreds.

That probably all adds up to around £650 ish of discount on a car costing ?
But if it ticks all the boxes which sounds like it does then you’ve done pretty well.
Shame it’s not nearer you as obviously then negotiation usually easier ( not saying you would have necessarily improved on it ) but more importantly you can reassure yourself then of the condition.

The deal that can be done on any car is unique.
The only way to find out is to go and try your luck 🤞

As above but if you can't haggle a monetary discount you may be able to haggle an extra free service etc.

Dealership ghosted me in the end so still hunting.

Went to view a 23 plate today at a main dealership and a little taken aback at the condition for a car they've had for sale for six weeks. Scratches and dents on the bodywork. Kerb marks on the alloys. Chipped interior. Mismatched tyres, both in brand and season. No idea why they wouldn't prepare a car for sale within a week of it being in stock.
