I am struggling to get the clamp to close after cleaning the throttle body on my DB9. Have watched Aston1936 and he makes it look very easy, but all I have managed to do is cut my thumb and shove a screwdriver into the palm of my hand when it slipped off the clamp (no laughing please). Any tips would be most welcome. Thanks.

Ah, looking at a picture, I know the kind of clamp you mean.

Not on a DB9, but in the past I've had good success using a small pair of end-cutters or sacrificing a cheap pair of normal pliers to dremel one jaw into a hook shape to reclamp them.

I'm also not too proud to just say bugger it and use a Jubilee-style worm drive clamp instead!

Fabulous - thanks! I have to admit to searching for an equivalent jubilee clip. Goodness knows why AM went for these bizarre things.

You need to line the clamp up to the rubber indentations and using a pair of pliers close it up and lock the clamp in place, very straight forward

I always used mole grips set wide and just gently persuaded them back in place.

Thank you very much. I managed to do it in the end, without further injury. Really grateful for your help.
