A previous owner was on here in 2013.

There’s a good chance it is still on the road if it was in 2013.
Mine was off the road for about 16 years before I had it fully restored.

I heard that the Stag’s survival rate is very high in comparison with other cars of the era. The Stag seems to have ever lasting appeal. I’ve always had a fondness for the S2 in some of the more vivid colour schemes.

Must be missing something but that's a different registration.

Ha, just seen this thread. I had that car for about two years - 1986-1988. It was fun but cost me ££££. Head gasket went one dark night on a dual carriageway. It had a fair amount of rust in the panels as well

I spent ££££ getting the engine rebuilt which then ran a big end. So spent even more on it. Bad decision. Bought for £2550 roughly and sold for £1800. Probably spent £2k on the engine alone. Left me with bad memories of Stags. Would I have another - not sure at this point. There are other cars ahead of it in the queue.

Did your dad own it after I owned it or before?

Thank everyone for replying
My dad had the stag from 74-78 it had the rear back panel in satin black as it was an early MK2 I know he had a new engine in it in the time my dads ownership didn't have a towbar on it and was manual I was very young at the time but remember it well have photos of it. Wish I could by it now.

It had the 3.0 Triumph engine in it and the manual gearbox - my uncle had a white one with the Ford replacement engine in it which sat higher. His was a P reg. The interior was the best bit about it - except the hood leaked. The vinyl seats and wood dash were pretty good from memory. Even though the DVLA has no record of it, it did have a few years ago so I think it’s maybe on a private plate if it’s still on the road …

OL back then was a Birmingham registration. I bought it in 1986 from a guy in Kettering.

Stag interiors seem to last incredibly well. Far better than german stuff from the eighties for example.

It's such a shame that the Stag's engine gave it such a crap reputation for so long, because the rest of the car – even the engine itself really – is brilliant.

I know I sound like a worn out record but the overheating and head gasket failure was down to the sand not being cleaned out the waterways in the block when the block came out the foundry.
Mid 80s and my first one.

Really nice colour Steve. I overlooked some of the rust on mine due to falling in love with the colour when I went to buy it.

These are all I have now. I did have some of the engine at one point but I think they’re lost now.
