Have been looking for a 992.2 with quite a high spec but realised that for £25k more I can get a GTS which appear to eb naturally higher spec so choice of 30 cars rather than 8 currently that meet what I want.

So I'm nervous about ride comfort as knew the last model GTS was super hard, anyone got any comparisons. Not too bothered (oddly) about finer points of handling as would trade comfort for total grip etc.

Can get a test drive but don't want to waste folks time.

My friend had a 992.2 GTS and the only downside he commented on was that the ride was a bit too firm for his liking. It clearly irked him a bit.

Stunning car otherwise but sold already!

Interesting to read.

Would a std carrera have a softer ride?
Or the S / 4S?

It’s def more firm than a carrera, s or 4s, as standard spec shows as -10mm and sports suspension. If it was commented on I’d prob be the same. If it’s the green one that is currently for sale at opc that looks lovely.

If anything like the 991.2, these cars will be really sensitive to tyre pressures. There are threads on other forums that I read and then did a bit of trial and error on my car to find the sweet spot.

I’ve tried various pressures on my 992.1 GTS and it makes no difference. Although, to be fair, I never tried the higher settings, only ‘comfort’ and lower.

In any case, the .1 is far too firm for the road to the point my wife won’t go in the car. Whether that’s a good or bad thing is another matter!

This is sort why I was asking, I’d heard it was softer but ideally find someone who has had both.

Same on my 991 too. Comfort feels about right - it can feel a bit twitchy with any more air.

I have a 992,1 GTS and optioned PASM v SPASM. Increases ride height 10mm and improves the ride. Result living in Germany more complaint at high speed on autobahn and now in UK on terrible roads also pretty good for a sports car.

I did see one with that spec but it’s incredibly rare.

My wife is very happy to travel in my 992.1 GTS Cab with the delete -10mm and removal of the helper springs. My other car is a Cayenne S with air so she could easily demand she always travels in that. Back in the UK after 14 years in NL and DEU the roads are the pits. It might look 10mm higher than a standard GTS cab, but it is worth it.

I’ve had a 992.1 GTS from new and it’s very firm. A friend also has a 992.1 GTS that landed about four months after mine and it’s no way near as firm. Differences are his is a cab, has PDCC and is on Pirelli vs my Goodyears.

Recently spent some time in a 992.2 GTS and it felt more like my Audi than my 992, no way near as firm. I don’t know what options it had though.

Only way you’re going to find out whether it’s too firm for you is to get out and drive a few, find one that rides to your liking and spec it up the same.

I've been running a 992.2 GTS4 Cab. It's a very firm ride but I got used to it. Motorways are fine but pot holes can be jarring. As others have said, if you can find one with the zero cost option of PASM rather than SPASM, it would feel a lot more compliant. Or, get a Targa which has the softer set up as standard. And looks awesome! I've driven the 992.2 Targa and it makes a world of difference to ride comfort whilst still being able to stiffen things up.

its very tyre pressure dependent on std GTS suspension for 992.2 GTS.

if you run 30psi all round (comfort tyre pressure setting) the ride is very comfortable on normal setting and still handles very well.
Although if you really want the best ride, you'd need to pick the Alpine a110. Now that's the ultimate in ride and handling. no matter which version.

This was something I was also worried about ahead of taking delivery of my 992.2 GTS. I had heard about the harsh ride on the .1 GTS but had read a few press articles saying it wasn't so harsh on the .2.

I've owned the car 8 months or so now, and it's really not an issue at all. Yes, on horrendous roads it can be a challenge, but no regrets on the purchase.
