Group of friends, all turning 40, want to go away for around 5 nights. Around March/April next year.

There will be 6 of us and ideally we want decent weather, something like a 6 bedroom villa with decent space and a pool, within easy walking access to bars, restaurants and ideally a golf course, although we could get cabs with the clubs.

Beachfront a bonus.

Any tips on where we should be looking?

Budget has been set at £2-3k each including flights and accommodation so I guess we're looking at an airbnb at circa £2,000 a night max for 5 nights.

To add, we're not a rowdy bunch so I'm not talking Ibiza etc

Have done both Vilamoura and Porto Banus. Both pretty much spot on for the type of trip you’re talking about. I’d also add Palma in Majorca.

Golf del Sur Tenerife would certainly be nice weather at that time of year and has a couple of courses on the doorstep. Enough restaurants and close to the airport too. Downside is no beach, and not much nightlife (though Playa de Las Americas is a short taxi ride away if you fancy that)

Did this for our 30s - we went to Thailand (Hua Hin) and had an amazing time.

Quinta Do Lago.

Rent a villa adjacent the ‘South’ golf course. 10 minutes to a private beach, fantastic restaurants and a few bars.

Would be my choice.

Take a look at North Cyprus - particularly the Ozankoy / Belapais areas. Some stunning villas there. Kyrenia isn't far. There's the Korineum Golf Course. Public beaches are a bit naff but there's a couple of resort type places that sell day passes to their private beaches (Cratos and Elexus are particularly good).

The north side of Nicosia has a really cool 'bohemian' vibe. Some superb craft beer bars (The Walls Inn is highly recommended), food decent too. And you can stroll though the green line to the southern part if you wanted to party 'large'.

Thanks guys, a few nice villas around Golf Del Sur, I’ve sent some links over and everyone seems keen!

Well within budget too. Less than £1k a night most of them with pools, games rooms, one has a cinema. Excellent.

Done Puerto Banus a few times and it's great. There are loads of golf companies that will make all the arrangements for you and collect and return you from said golf courses.

But in all honesty the only lads trips that have stood the test of time are ski trips and MTB trips. Now in my 50's and still do one of each every year without a murmur from Mrs JQ, although my kids are starting to question why they can't come!!!. Obviously you need to be able to ski and MTB, but our groups started in late 30's and we've all improved over the years. Off to Austria in Feb next year for a ski trip and currently investigating a French MTB trip next summer. Doing something athletic all day, then partying all night, hits differently.

I'm currently staying near La Manga Club in Spain at a friend's place, my parents used to own a small villa on the complex.

That type of holiday you describe is very popular here, we come out at various times of year and see groups on exactly that kind of holiday. I'm not a golfer but I'm told it is an excellent course.

You can fly to Murcia Regional Airport which is about a 30 min drive away. Alicante is probably cheaper to fly to but is 120km away.

There isn't a beach in walking distance, but there are several a short drive/taxi ride away.

It's very much a nice Brits abroad place - decent bars and restaurants but nothing tacky.

We have rented twice through https://marmenormanagement.com/ who were really good. No connection to them other than being a satisfied customer twice.

https://lamangarentacar.com/en/ are good for car hire/transfer.

Google 'La Manga Golf Holidays' to find out package deals.

About an hour south of Alicante there's the Condado de Alhama golf resort which has lots of villas / apartments around it but only a few onsite bars/restaurants. For a night out or the beach you'd have to travel 20 mins to Puerto de Mazarron, or stay there then it's 20 minutes to the golf course.
Just checked their website and it's the 23rd best golf course in southern Spain, not sure I'd boast about that hehe

Found La Manga a bit dry. If golf is the main focus then I'm sure it'd be great but it's not the place to be if you like a half decent night out.

General consensus was Golf Del Sur, so that's been booked. Cheap flights from Manchester. Job's a good'un.

Thanks for the input!
