Down in Lemans for a bit of a break and in one of those weird coincidences that occur occasionally to keep life interesting, in a bar in town bumped into an ex PHer who I have not seen in a couple of years. Some of the older members on here may remember CrackFox on here. Over a few glasses of red we caught up on the last few years and it turns out his latest book is nearing completion. He has been researching people's experiences with BL cars and the company, and tracking down and interviewing people who worked with or knew Derek 'Red Robbo' Robinson. He reckons he was (at times) unfairly reported and, it turns out, lived quite an interesting and life in and out of Longbridge.
This is all research for a book he is writing which should go to print soon. He'd be interested in anyone experiences (good and bad) and I'll steer him to this thread if there's any response. He just interviewed Harold Mugrove, apparently, and met a load of communists so has some good tales to share.
I worked for Ford at Dagenham (making Fiestas and Cortinas) at the time of Red Robbo so found it all very interesting and I am looking forward to the book coming out.

When I was Factory Superintendent* back in '92-93, our HR bossman was ex-BL and was the one who finally uttered the words "You're sacked" to Derek Robinson.

RIP, Mike.

*Only the 'Mercuns could come up with such a job title!
