Thank you, it will be sad to see it go but the family will be happy as next year our boys are 13 and 16 plus it’s our 20 year wedding anniversary so that’s the reason it’s up for sale

Ah, that's brilliant! Hope you have a cracking time celebrating. Our boys are a couple of years younger, and soon we're going to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary too clap
Just wanted to ask for some more details about the rev counter. Is it possible that the Emerald K6 ECU is the reason your tachometer isn't working? I initially thought it might be the usual corroded service indicator board. However, I did some research and found that the original BMW E23 tachometer is designed to read a specific signal from the stock ignition system, whereas an aftermarket ECU like the Emerald K6 outputs a different signal type.
Anyway, I can live without a tacho, and I've bid on this lovely car. I hope the reserve will be met, as I'll definitely enjoy a nice driving to Fife !

Hi Danbel,
You could be correct as the previous owner saw to the ECU and to be honest it hasn’t bothered me either so I’ve not delved into it, I am disabled so I am unable to do work on the car myself which is frustrating and having to pay for parts and labour can get expensive I’ve had to choose the work carefully.
I did intend to work on the car myself but my body won’t cooperate sadly.
Just as a side note, the issue with the battery drain could be that when I purchased the car the central locking didn’t work but once the fuse was replaced it jumped back into life so and ever since then it drains the battery so I’m not 100% sure but it could possibly be that the central locking isn’t earth properly but this is just a guess, I like having the central locking working so I got my mechanic to fit a battery disconnect plug, it fires up first time when reconnected.
Good luck with your bidding! It is a cracking car and will be sorely missed should it meet reserve.

I'm the previous owner, so, when I bought it hardly anything worked on the dash, so I sent it away to a specialist and unfortunately couldn't get the rev counter to work. This was before I had the ECU fitted so nothing to do with that.

Hi Fifercarz, thank you for getting back to me and providing useful info! I'm so sorry to hear about your condition; it must feel terrible to be a petrolhead and not be able to work on your pride and joy. If you part ways with it, I do hope it'll come my way where it'll be cherished, or to some other chap who's going to take good care of her.

And thank you ton246 too, that's really helpful! If this car comes my way, I'll join the forum to have a chat with you guys!

Tony will be a good port of call for information on the car, if he’s willing that is lol, I believe he was the first owner after the car was refurbished and put a lot of time and effort into getting the car to work properly.
I’m glad the car will be looked after if you get it and I really believe in the right hands it won’t take too much to get it to tip top condition if maybe a very close concourse condition.
I wish you the very best on your bidding but if it doesn’t sell I’ve decided I’ll get the work done myself just at a much slower pace
