Also, he might have been the Beatles drummer before Ringo Starr....:

I've not watched the clip yet, but I seem to remember he auditioned for Bond at one time... And was rejected for being too aggressive! They missed a trick there. He would have been spot on.

Seems strange. Guy's an actor, if they ask him for aggressive he can do that. If they say tone down the aggression he could do that too.

Im no judge but I wonder if he would have been handsome enough

He would have been a very good bond IMO.

I think the real reason he wasn't is that the Broccolis tended to opt for relatively (but not totally) unknown actors to play Bond. Although Roger Moore had done a bit of TV and a few films, he didn't have the profile that Collins had. The Professionals was exceptionally popular in the US, Canada, Australia, etc. That and the fact there was a lot of similarity in the two roles likely swayed the thinking.

Conversely, it's usually reported that Lazenby secured the role because he accidentally punched a stuntman too hard during his audition, proving his ability to portray aggression.

Roger Moore, relatively unknown? The Saint was pretty big around the world ending with primetime slots in the USA and the UK.

I was going to mention the Persuaders, but that was a bit of a flop in the USA. Which is a real shame as I would have loved a 2nd series as it is one of my all time favourite TV series. I watched the whole series again a year or so ago on Great TV (I think it was that one).

Think that show was called, haha, 'In bed with Me dinner'. A clever title at the time.

“In bed with me dinner”
Went to the filming of it at LWT in the 90’s.
Damn I’m getting old!

Sheer coincidence but the algorithm gave me that clip a couple of days ago!

I liked him in the comedy "The Cuckoo Waltz" where he played alongside the beautiful Diane Keene.

Far as I recall he turned up for the Bond audition in either motorbike leathers or pvc trousers. Something that Bond would never wear.

Anyway agree, I think he’d have been good

Moore played the part for far too long, he looked old in later films, and it is rather pervy now seeing a mid 50s man running around with very young girls in a movie, his 80s films are easily the worst Bond films, someone like Collins would have injected much needed youth and more relevant age into the franchise.

None of this is Rogers fault of course, he loved it, the writing and scripts were poor.

Dalton was much needed, but perhaps should have been in 2 films before he was
