I'm considering a Cupra Ateca VZ3 as next 3yr personal lease option - currently got Tiguan R-line 150bhp.

Any owenership experiences?
Is the Formentor a better car? (need to consider large dog / tip runs / business miles)
Is the Ateca model due for replacement - will it start looking outdated in the 3yr lease period

The Ateca *is* old but comes from arguably the "good times" of VAG development before the post-dieselgate and post-BEV cost-cutting really hit midcycle programmes. If you've come out of a facelift Tiguan, the ateca will be more like the pre-facelift car.

It is a bit cheaper/plasticky than the Tiguan. However, having had a number of TIguans (pre- and post- facelift), the pre-facelift ones were much better and the new ones felt cheaper, so I'd not see the Ateca being older as a demerit.

It'll look more dated, yes, but will probably have better (slightly old school) usability.

The Ateca is a good car, good package, and the CUPRAs go pretty well. Think of it more as a blown up Golf R, rather than direct like for like vs Tiguan.

If you can get a good deal on it, go for it. Everyone I know who had a Ateca Cupra really liked it (both as good to drive but also as a good practical family car). Just don't expect amazing refinement or PQ.

Have driven a first gen Seat Ateca Cupra and a 2022 with a view to buy very recently. Drove the Formentor, think it looks great, screen shocking, very dark inside, horrid for passengers. YMMV.

Ateca still has AC rotaries, buried in the hateful known to be very glitchy Formentor screen. Ateca 1-0.

Ateca boot much more useful, obvs, Ateca 2-0.

Is VZ3 2.0 296hp only? You'll notice that coming from the 150 version, you won't notice th slightly cheaped out Ateca rear suspension because I doubt you'd have troubled it too much with half the power, but they're hardly "on the limit" cars anyway.

Space is as good as you're used to, suspension tolerable, noise a bit meh, looks subjective.

I'll probably end up with an X3 M40i for not much more but an older car, or maybe an X5, but we'll see. Not considerations for your lease, and if you are worried about aesthetics then don't take a 3 year deal, although why something looking a generation older matters only you can decide!
