Engine Rebuild
Discussion
Engine is currently being stripped down after finding swarf in the oil. Thankfully initial inspection isnt showing anything serious so now that its apart, what would owners recommend being done? Obviously im looking at crank seals, camshaft bushes etc but anything else? Is this a good time to do tophat liners or not?

Who's rebuilding it for you?
Always better to have a chat with the builder really, not worth cutting corners anywhere really if you have the chance to do it properly.
Cheers. Thats probably the best and most sensible advice but i was just curious as to what others have done. Not long owned the car so everything is a journey right now. Not sure on engine builders. Theres a few choices near me but V8 developments is my favourite after speaking to him.Always better to have a chat with the builder really, not worth cutting corners anywhere really if you have the chance to do it properly.

Liners can drop so rebuilders often fit top hat liners so they stay in place. Worth doing if the engine is already open but I don’t know how easy a job it is DiY.
Camshafts are often quoted as 50k mile lifespan.
Thanks. Camshaft was done about 15k ago and has vernier timing gear fitted. Im now starting to realise that engine rebuilds arent a big thing in TVR world, just rather not go through this again if i dont have to.Camshafts are often quoted as 50k mile lifespan.
