Hi. Please would you elaborate on this; First gear can very occasionally be jerky to engage but not often enough to warrant investigating further. For example does this mean you can’t take it out of park?

Hi, thanks for the question. There’s never a problem engaging first from neutral or park, but sometimes very occasionally when the gearbox changes down into first, there will be a jerk when setting off again. Hopefully that’s clear but I should stress that it doesn’t happen often at all, just disclosing it in the interest of full transparency.

Mention of steering rack issue are highlighted in recent MOT's over a 15,000 mile period. Has this issue been corrected.
May I have more info on the welding? It would be useful to speak to the chaps that did the work.
Please can you supply a list of works that you believe need sorting?
How bad is the gearbox oil leak might this have a link to first gear issues when low?

Nearside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material front to rear pipes covered in wax oil (1.1.11 (c))
Central Rear Oil leak, but not excessive gearbox oil leak (8.4.1 (a) (i))
Nearside Front Play in steering rack inner joint(s)
Offside Front Play in steering rack inner joint(s)
Vehicle structure is corroded but structural rigidity is not significantly reduced (6.1.1 (c) (i))

Apologies for the delay, missed these questions.

I've had all of the issues taken care of that my local specialist, Alltrack 4x4, has advised need doing. Anything remaining on the advisory list are things that they've said can be sorted as and when they become an issue. It is a 20 year old Land Rover, so it's not perfect but aside from those items called out in the listing, there's nothing that you'd notice day to day.

I haven't seen any oil on the drive from the gearbox leak, so don't think it's significant (and I would have thought that the guys at Alltrack would have recommended doing more on that if they thought it was relevant). The issue has occurred once every few months at most so really haven't considered it a priority.

If I was keeping it then I would consider having the cruise control looked at but didn't think it was worth doing at this stage as not everyone likes to use it.

Hi. Does this fall under the higher tax bracket for petrol vehicles under emissions or is it set price due to age?

I _think_ that emissions-based charging applies from 2001, but the VED isn't as bad as it could be at £430 per year at current rates.

Just wanted to say it’s a cool car. I recognised where the pictures were taken in Malvern.

Great to see all that History at Alltrack - for anyone who doesn't know, they are excellent.

We had 2 early D3's (one v8 Petrol HSE and one V6 Diesel HSE, both in that fantastic Tonga Green). Our V8 was a fantastic car and I never should have got rid of it.
