I love my M5 but for various reasons including cost, tax saving and wanting to put my car through my LTD I'm considering this swap

There are other EVs id be more excited about (test drove and Ioniq 5N and loved it) but at this price point the i4 M50 is very good value

I am also looking at model 3 and y performance

Aaaaaaaannnnnyyywho

My question is whether anyone has experience of going from something like an M5 to an i4 M50 and what there experience has been, any advice etc

I'm being more practical and sensible right now but I will absolutely be picking up and F90 M5 in a few years time if things go to plan

Thanks

In that case just do it, look at it as a hiatus & you'll be happy enough.

imo interior wise the M5 feels like a nicer place to be but I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This wasn't a direct move, but we had an M2 Comp, and one of our cars is now an i4 M50. It's a nice car, but I wouldn't say it deserves to be called an M car! It's nice to drive, as in comfortable, it is indeed quick if required, but just doesn't want to be driven like a proper M car which always feels like you want to give it a blast. It is a heavy car and handles well considering.

The driver for us was the low company car tax and cheap/free power. It looks great in Portimao blue and is very smooth and comfortable. The 0-60 capability feels like a waste now, as just doesn't feel like a car that needs to be driven like that, in hindsight it would have been better to trade acceleration for overall milage, which is looking like about 250-260 miles per charge. Oh and since the LCI update you need to spec things like leather as no longer included in the base spec.....

Summary, it's a great car, but no M5 substitute!'
