Just received this years insurance quotation and it’s gone up again but not by much. I’ve been with Classicline for 23yrs with no claims in that time but it’s a classic policy so doesn’t have NCB associated with it. It’s also got an agreed value but that lasts 2yrs and still has a year to run.
I currently use my full NCB on my daily driver and have 3 points for a minor speeding offence 3yrs ago.
I’m a recently retired Civil Engineer (65), living in a “good” area, insuring a 2007 Vantage V8 on 3k miles per year. Car is garaged over night.
The quote I’ve had is £446, does that sound reasonable in this day and age, or should I shop around?

My renewal with adrian flux almost doubled this year to £700 and I’ve been with them for 4, shopped around and got insured with Admiral on an 08 V8V protected no claims, breakdown etc etc for £334!

I’m an insurance broker and my cars are insured with Admiral. Our RS3 was stolen a few months back and the service and payout from Admiral was exceptional. Give ‘em a ring.

Thanks gents, I think the stumbling block will be that I can't use the NCB from my daily driver but I'll give Admiral a call.

I’m similar to you - 63 years old, 2007 Vantage, low-risk postcode, 3,000 miles a year, garaged.

Full, protected NCD, plus a couple of mods (Nitron suspension, two-piece floating discs)

£260 with Saga

Hadn't thought about SAGA. There's got to be something good about getting oldsmile

I put my Vantage on an Admiral multi-car policy with my (nondescript) daily. Second year on the policy and it’s ~£260.

Three years ago I was paying almost £1k with Adrian Flux.

Aviva offered me a decent quote for my last renewal. That was a few years after they had refused to offer me a renewal quote, with no reasons given at the time. It’s been discussed on here before, but it seems to me that the business/risk models of most companies seem to go through cycles regarding certain makes/models of cars. A lot of owners on here found Churchill to be competitive in 2021/2022, but after a couple of years they refused to offer renewal quotes too. BRM.

You also get a discount at 60+ on French ferries….

Ps - saga have proved cheapest for me too, recently. Admiral worth a try too.

Another vote for team old codger, SAGA insurance starts at over 50's and I took advantage of the 3 year fixed price deal, locking my 2006 V8 Vantage, 3000 miles, garaged quote at £299
They seem to have quite specific algorithms though, when I had a brief moment of madness and thought about changing to a 'new' vantage the quotes were ridiculous. rotate

When I used Classicline I had them log a NCB period even though they didn’t use it for their insurance calcs.

Most insurers use database to prove time of No Claims when taking on new business.

So can’t see why you wouldn’t get 10years plus on transferring.

I just added a 2019 DB11 Volante to my Admiral policy with no associated NCB and a value of £92k for £480. 60 year old driver with a 62 year old named driver also on the policy, 6000 miles per year. Worth noting that was for just 291 days of insurance as it’s a multi-car policy.

I'm currently with Adrian Flux, more because they accepted all my 'mods' on my Vantage.

Its due in September so I will await on the renewal quote and go from there.

Fingers crossed its not going up by too much......

Thanks all for the feedback. Sounds like it’s worth a couple of hours on the phone and I’ll certainly be asking Classicline about a record of my NCB.

Saga are very good but that quote you have for guaranteed value sounds reasonable to me.

I was with Saga for a few years and they also offer no increases for three years if you want to take up that offer, there are no strings attached with that either. On my latest vantage they wanted a huge increase so I went with Admiral, got my house insurance and contents and the Aston all on one policy, will add my daily driver next renewal to bring the premium down further.

Just had to call Admiral as mine is due for renewal and I wasn't happy with the answer to one of the questions. The lady asked me if I was happy with the price and I said if she could do better I would obviously be happy. I didn't want to push my luck as our RS3 had been stolen in March, payout £25k and I've added my 17 yro daughter to the Disco as a learner driver. She saved me a further £363.00 to arrive at this. Bonkers.

This years quote:-

Vanquish S Volante - £543.01
Disco 4 - £1,219.14
AUDI A3 - £606.03
Taycan GTS GT - £1,280.24

Just out of interest as you are a broker, why are LR products so expensive to insure still. My RR is twice the premium of my Aston despite being worth nearly half…. I thought the ‘easy to steal’ thing had been resolved?

I’m guessing it’s because they are so common and therefore easier to sell on the parts once broken out, so a fair quantity are stolen.

A Vanquish S goes missing and even 1 new advert on eBay or a Google search would raise suspicion, so thefts are quite rare.
